Topic: Best place re camera warranties

I am looking at getting a simple point and shoot camera.
I don't want to spend too much (around $200) but am more interested in having a good warranty and having returning it if need be be easy and not a hassle due to contact weird independent places.

We bought a camera from Big W once and it broke and we had to take it to some weird shop 40mins drive so want prefer a place that handles warranties.

Advice :D

I have a 350D, but I find it very bulky for quick snaps of the kids and just want a small compact point & shoot

Any idea if Photo continental is cheap comparable to other shops?
I have only been there for accessories and their website isn't working :(

photo continental is expensive.

No retail stores do onside repairs, they all have MANUFACTURER warranties... so while you can take them to the retailer when they break, they will just send them to the service agent... you should know this, considering you used to work at a computer store.

Also, canon or death. I think their current entry model is still an a430 and they're not a bad camera for ~$150-200 or I think theres another one a step up for slightly more, but i've forgotten the model number.

Just because I worked for a computer store doesn't mean I know how all retail stores function :)
I am more interested in after sales service than price to be honest so was after some advice of those known retailers who would help if something went wrong and who wouldn't go "No, we don't deal with that". I am guessing a brand such as canon have repair centres around Brisbane that are easy to get to? (just searched and yes so cool)

So I guess it wouldn't matter where it was purchased from then? (if it was a canon)

I don't think canon do a cheap point and shoot, that might be canons only flaw.

Personally i bought from JB, but Photo continental would have just as good customer service i presume, considering they're a speciality store.

And i didn't find photo continental expensive.
