tonight...

Probably the most significant thing about this match is that it is potentially the last time McGrath and Lara face off against eachother (potentially because I don't understand the format so I don't know if it is possible for us to play them again).

I'm sure they could meet again if they both finished in the top four of the super 8s stage and therefore made it to the semis (it's like 1 big pool at this stage where you play everyone you haven't already played).

The West Indies have sent us in, hopefully that works about as well for them as it did for South Africa.

Postponed until tomorrow. Windies should get the full 50 overs, but the total may increase under d/l due to the rain delay we had in our innings.

I got up at 5am to watch it, they were showing the highlights of the Australia vs India World Cup game from Brisbane (in 92 I think). I was at that game with my dad (he's an Indian). India needed 4 off the last ball Srinath belted the ball high down to wide long on where Steve Waugh ran around to take what should have been a reasonably comfortable catch (we were directly behind this 2 rows back) but he dropped it, recovered quickly and threw the ball to the far (keeper's) end to run out Raju coming back for the 3rd which would have tied the game! Best finish I've ever seen live and it wasn't too bad reliving it even if it was 5am.

I don't know what happened around the rest of the ground that last ball, but I've never seen a group of people rise as one and lean in like they did in our area as the ball came down to Waugh right in front of us.

Well that was relatively easy, but the Sri Lanka vs South Africa match on now is something else! South Africa had 5 wickets in hand 4 runs to get then lost 4 wickets for 1 run. So tense right meow.

Well South Africa faced out a bunch of dot balls only scoring one more single for a while, then edged one through the slips for 4 to win! So close!

Hopefully that will remind RSA that they're in the Super 8s now. :P
