another vote for bicarb soda. (this works well also if you mix lemon juice)

Well if it were a fridge I'd say.

Clean it. (Remove the source of the smell).
Then wipe it down with water mixed with vanilla essence. (cover up the smell that remains).

But its a microwave, so ..
Clean it (remove the source of the smell).
BTW to make it easier to clean first remove any crumbs and crap, then half fill a plastic bowl with water and some vinegar or lemon juice and heat it up, the steam will make it easier to clean the inside and will put a lemon smell on the s*** ya can't reach.
Then wipe it down with lemon water or a scented surface cleaner. (cover the smell up).

I had the same problem I got a bar of soap soaked it in water for about ten min then put it in microwave on a peace of paper towel. Turned it on high for 3 min. Now all the smell has gone from the microwave its like new

put a cd in there and turn it on.

that will cover up any existing smell with a burnt plastic smell and you get to see the cool fractals and sparks it makes too!

Mental note. Its a bad idea to heat up s*** in a microwave because it makes the microwave smelly......

Yeah, water + lemon juice or peppermint oil in a bowl with the microwave on for a few mins really helps. Eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil might work well too, but they're pretty hardcore and might f*** your s*** up.

Remember to clean it out after every use. A chux soaked in dishwashing liquid works well, just don't let the crap build up in there.

HAHAHA this is funny cause we have this problem in our office. Ever since trog managed to set fire to popcorn in the office microwave it has totally STUNK of burnt oil, like really bad

It is kind of going away slowly 6 months later but still cop a wiff if someone opens the door of it if you're walking past.

You're going to have to be more specific to get out of this one.
