Sadly, it's animated instead of live action. It'll still be cool though I'm sure. There's a video game of it too.

ahah just watched the 2nd trailer, haven't seen that one before. If it has some cool dialogue it could be pretty cool. Animation looks nice.

actually the game is pretty fun to play, its nothing awesome, just your typical action adventure game, the gfxs are what let it down though, considering how good the movie looks youd think the game would atleast be half decent looking, but sadly its not.

It doesn't start on April 5th, its already on, I went and saw it today.

Its not bad, but it doesn't have Shredder in it, and I mean whats the point of a new Ninja Turtle movie without Shredder. It does have plenty of Casey Jones though, so it gets points for that.

Edit: Just read your links, and this is from the greater union one

SCREENS FROM 22ND MARCH 2007 (VIC); 5TH APRIL (ALL OTHER STATES)

Just saw an advanced screening of the movie and f***ing hell it was awesome. So much better than the crap they released years ago and the animation was damn impressive. Definately worth watching.

I know, but its still lame, and its obvious they're going to bring him back for the next one because they pretty much blatantly say so at the end. So why didn't they just come up with some deus ex machina style reason how he survived and put him in this one?

The whole movie just seemed to be build-up for the next one, its all about the turtles getting back together with some token meaningless monsters thrown in to provide the catalyst they need to reunite and the Foot clan thrown in for no real reason at all except to announce at the end that they're going to bring Shredder back.

Not to say its bad, but it felt very anti-climactic to me and it felt more like it was more concerned with setting up a sequel than being a good movie in it's own right.

I'm undecided whether I want to go see this or not. I mean I know I loved this as a kid and all, but there are other movies I remember thinking were great which I've gone back and watched, and been sorely disappointed.
Examples: The Neverending Story, The Breakfast Club.

my favourite yet lamest tmnt moment was when shredder made a machine to borrow into the turtles lair at which point he released a heat seeking missle on the turtles, only to have one of them to declare that turtles are cold blooded and that humans/shreder is warm blooded. at which point shredder went WTF?!?!?!? and got wtf owned, yet somehow survied and returned the next ep.

but yeah tmnt are lame, but whats lamer is the latest series of cartons/shows of the tmnt which bassically forget everything about the tmnt short of them being turtles with ninja skills and setting them in some f***ed up scenario that makes the original yet aging turtles cry in shame. so if the recent movie captures atleast the slightest amount of nostalgia that the cartoon series and original movies had then i will enjoy it.

Animation was good, but the movie as a whole was a big hole of meh. I was never a big turtles fan anyway but the geeks will prolly enjoy it (if not shredd it to bits because of the lack of shredder).

in the original comics i think shredder was only in a couple of them before he was killed off. it was just in the cartoon or movies i think that brought him back and made him the main villain.

Yeah most of the reviews have been lukewarm, to say the least. Rotten Tomatoes has it on 34% currently. I'll still be seeing it, but shame really - hopefully the next (supposedly M-rated) installment will have more of an impact.

no i wouldnt because i dont listen to critics. i judge whether a movie is worth seeing by watching the trailers/previews.

..and how often has a movie had an impressive trailer but then turned out to be disappointing?

RT isn't the definitive word on whether a movie is worth a look (like I said I'll be seeing it anyway), but it gives you a better idea than a few random clips carefully edited together..

So who has seen it?

elvis and his best mate took the eldest to see it this morning (strange hearing two grown men justifying it by "we are taking the kid to see it" pfft sif).

I miss out though :(

Does it need to be seen in the cinemas?

kat - it was nice enough on the big screen, but if you miss it there then waiting for the DVD is fine.

As for the movie itself, thought it was quite a bit of fun.. it's basic but considering the age group it's aimed at, I'm not fussed. Didn't like the voice they picked for Splinter though, for some reason it really jarred me everytime he spoke :/

I enjoyed it.

They would make you anticipate certain events about to take place, and then fast forward to something else instead, so the plot didn't feel like a normal movie. It felt like an hour and a half long episode.

I like that. Sure, it was squarely aimed at youngster's, but it was less predictable that way.

What I found most surprising was the amount of dialog scenes they took the time to show, as opposed to having action all the way through. A couple of bonus points there.

When you've spent probably the best part of 5 or more years with a bunch of ninjas and constantly getting kidnapped/in trouble, wouldn't you start learning how to fight back too?

Agree Khel, apart from that good continuity from the first 3 live action movies:

7/10, though I do have a slight leaning toward live action martial arts than the animated stuff, just doesn't quite have the same impact, as you never really feel they are in significant danger.

Just saw it at Southbank. Quite good, but the story was a let-down and needed more humour, the fight scenes didn't quite have the impact as you say.

Only real problem was the morons up the back who were laughing everytime Splinter spoke (yeah he's got a Japanese accent..yeah hilarious! wtf???)

A decent start, hopefully the writer/director ups the ante for the next one..
