*sigh* no point in arguing with someone who sets themselves up to be able to say, "that's the devil talking," every time they are losing a conversation. It's better to go find someone who is willing to actually have an open debate about it and talk to them... rather than this nut job.

Thanks be to God! The words you speak have conviction and feel right in my heart. The LORD has place his truth in our heart. One must be receptive to it to receive it. THe Holy Spirit is NOT an imaginary force. The power of faith & prayer! Evolution is the wrong faith (it's THE lie.) what a f***ing tool, ppl that are this into their religion are the problem with the world |

HEHEHEH
I stumped a Door-to-Door salesman posing as a religious nutter (he was following a sales like script too). I mentioned how I'm studyin science and that overwelming evidence points towards evolution. Then he sprouted the ever so over used retort of, If I get a TV and smash it up into tiny, tiny pieces and put it into a blender never again will it form itself into a TV by itself. I then proceeded to enlighten him of the fundamental differances between a highly specific, heavily designed electronic piece of equipment with many exact parts to that of a highly adaptable organsim made up of these things called CELLS. I told him that it was because of these CELLS that an organism can evolve, adapt change and eventually build to a greater organism. Since he was just following a script, his free thinking seem to be impaired and he had no witty retort, that or the word organism was too close to orgasm for his liking :D |

what the hell was with those giants skeletons anyway, and wouldn't using fossil evidence to disprove evolution be just about impossible dunno about some of the pics shown... but 2 of the skull drawings next to a picture of a fossil skull are neanderthal skulls... which are from a prehistoric period thousands of years before the people that wrote the bible were born... i guess when you are using god-power to solve the mysteries of the past there is no need to correlate with carbon dating results. ;D the power of the smug smirk overrides the need for error checking. wetwired : but the funniest part is at the end.. where, using the awesome image enhancing tools of ms paint... the knobjockey identifies a 'pentagram' from a satellite photo pointing at the whitehouse (which he calls 'the most important building in the world') obviously *smirk* meaning that the american government is also under the influence of satan! i guess bush's catholicism just isn't godly enough for captain smarmy. :D |

I couldn't sit through a minute of that s*** me either, I stopped somewhere after him saying we had permission to act like monkies. Ok so if we believe we came from monkies it gives us permission to act like monkies then by that extension if we came from god we have permission to act like god. f***ING AWESOME I GET TO CREATE LIFE THEN BLAME IT ON GOD. toolbag. |

So has someone proven evolution to be true yet? What do you mean by proven? Do you mean evidence? Ok so if we believe we came from monkies One of the basic flaws in his logic is that we come from monkeys so we should act like monkeys. In reality, we come from humans so we should act like humans. However, at some distant point in time, our ancestors were something close to, but exactly human. It also fails to account the totally irreligious way religious people have acted towards each other. |

Either way you look at it, its survival of the fitest. Really this debate should end when we discover a huge arse asteroid headed straight for our planet. I doubt god won't save us, but I'm sure some devil worshipping nerds will. Of course, the evangelists would say god would have wanted some devil worshipping nerds to save the planet - hang on, that doesn't make sense... I know, it would be like god just got pissed off with everyone (he's known to do that from time to time) and wanted to kill us all but the devil saved the planet.. umm, hang on, that's not it either... ok I got it... The evangelists would say that the devil sent the asteroid so his worshippers would save the planet, and then he would become more powerful and god's worshippers would lose (ha ha). Too bad god didn't think of this sooner eh. Anyway, it would be obvious the devil worshipers are playing a more sophisticated game - so they get my vote. So when we see a huge arse asteroid coming our way, I'll be praying to our devil worshipping nerds to save us. If they fail, then I will be praying to god. If he fails, I'll try hacking the matrix to turn on god mode:) |

hey guys. new guy in town. moved to oxley on wednesday. done some googling about the giant skeletons ya see towards to end of the video, pure BS. snopes even has an article for it. no matter how hard you try. if one of the fundemental hooks of your argument is flawed. then so is the entire arguement. put this guy in front of a moving bus. lets see if prayer and beleif in god can save him them.
here is the snopes article here: giant skeletons |

The funny part is that either a) the fundy nut in the video actually believed those photos or b) he was stupid enough to think that we would.

What a funny little fella.
I just recently read a book about the science of complexity, and it was certainly very interesting. They are discovering ways that cells or very simple organisms can boot strap themselves from being a floating piece of gunk into other things, with some very very basic rules. Evolution wasn't an accident, it was a very simple program. Science has noticed that everything from boiling water to complex economics naturally find an equilibrium, due to some law of thermodynamics. The thing is, how did that come about? Obes makes a good point. Observing the universe leads us to believe that it's always expanding, which leads us to believe that things start from a centre and are expanding out from it, hence the big bang theory. By why did everything go bang? Who/what wrote the software for DNA? Why is Trog so metrosexual, yet so nerdy? These are questions we don't have answers for. One interesting thing I got from this book, is that a lot of scientists believe in god. They see science as a way of unravelling the mystery of his work, or "getting closer to god". This science of complexity lends itself to that. I personally don't think there's a god. Certainly not the god depicted by any religions I know of anyway. I do believe that there is something missing though, and it's also possible that we'll never know for sure. My personal theory is that the order or balance of things follows a set of certain rules, and once we find those rules, and they can apply to everything from a monkey to a religious twit on you tube to a fish to a the pubic hair stuck in Saints throat, we'll find "god". /rant |

David Attenborough once said that he didn't believe in God, because he found it hard to believe that a merciful all mighty power would have created a creature that would bore into the eye of a hapless child causing blindness, and that nature isn't that nice and merciful.

I find it a bit offensive that creationists can't get their head around the concept of life coming about through evolution (though more specifically natural selection), which they describe as being decided by the flip of a coin, yet have no problems accepting that the whole of creation came about at the flick of a switch.
I say religion should stick to guiding peoples lives, rather than trying to explain it. |
