If i remember correctly, the last episode of season 2 had dezmonds wife hiring ppl to check for electromagnetic activity (or whatever happens when it counts down from 108). This episode and also the flashback episode before this had absoutly no mention of it what so ever? I really hope they talk about it in x02 otherwise itll be the pretty major backflip..

I don't understand why they didn't steal the yacht (sp??) off the guy that fixed it up (the one that had his head cracked open by desmond).

I mean if the "others" were so keen to find out about the flight 817 survivors, why did they not know about desmonds yacht.

I am starting to get frustrated with the amount of questions that they have not yet answered ie. why was there polar bears on the island, how did a pirate ship get in the middle of the island, what is the "security system" aka black fog, why are the "others" so damn hostile.

The polar bears were on the island for psychological experiments like what they are doing with Jack and the other two prisoners. But they escaped. They revealed that last week.

I'm pretty sure they said in season 1 that they would like to tell the story over 6 or 7 seasons.

I must say, I've been very impressed with this season so far.
Far more coherent, far more entertaining.

I am however far less than impressed with all these shows suddenly inventing the mid season break. what's with this bulls***!? First entourage now lost.
Shows already have a decent enough break between seasons, they don't need more... f***ers!

Anyway, awesome last episode.

I still watch Lost even though it's s*** and frustrating. Why can't they just tell us who these "others" are and what they're doing instead of keeping it some big secret. After two and a half seasons it's not mysterious any more, it's down -right annoying what's going on. Just f***ing tell us for f***s sake and then continue with the story you pieces of s***!!!

At least we still have cool show's that know what they're doing like Heroes, Dexter and Battlestar.

Mid season break's been around at least as long as i've been downloading US TV. The first time it was really noticeable was with 24 Season 1. They always shut down over christmas since it's the non-rating winter time. Though now i've checked the original air dates it really doesn't look that bad compared with Prison break last year.

Running a complete season but pretending it isn't a complete season, that's where the bulls*** is.

I don't know. Prison Break has less direction than Lost in my opinion. Major characters that they spent a decent amount of time developing just got killed off (Lincoln's ex-gf and the guy that was helping her) almost without ever referring to them again. Sure a few deaths happened in Lost but there wasn't enough time for character development in the first place.

Add the fact that Prison Break has no sense of genuine suspense or cleverness. Just cheap tricks to make it look suspenseful.

* Oh noes they are about to open the garage door and get busted. Oh different garage door, different place.
* Oh noes he's about to lead them back to the house where they're digging for the money. Oh, different house, different place.

Repeat and rinse. In general I wouldn't give a s*** if an PB episode didn't come out one week. I might stop watching it all together.
At least we still have cool show's that know what they're doing like Heroes, Dexter and Battlestar.

Battlestar is good sci-fi that tackles real-world moral issues (genocide, when is a machine human?, suicide-bombing, etc). Unlike in Star Trek where some mysterious [insert TECH or ALIEN] intervenes so that the difficult decisions don't need to be made at all.

Heroes is showing much promise. I feel like Cartman walking around going "Come onn, Come oooonnnn" when I'm awaiting an episode.

can i just say that Lost has gotten fkn intriguing over the last few weeks.

plot is really motoring along now, so for all those who whinged that nothing ever happens in Lost it must be hard to complain atm.

they will probably start complaining that it's moving too fast and not enough time is spent on examining the characters.

O yeh... it's really motoring along. I find this show so boring but still stupidly watch it week after week. I find the flashbacks so f***ing boring and scan through them when my g/f aint watching it with me. Everything that happens to progress the development of the show is immediately reversed in every episode.

*SPOILERS*

Who gives a s*** "what they know"... unfortunately they are still in the same place they were in Season 1. 6 episodes ago, Kate and Sawyer were escaping, now Kate and others are CAPTURED again. Awesome. They find a submarine, they blow it up. They find a radio and satellite, they blow it up. Three times now they've had the boss bad guy in their hands and let him get away.

Jack screams at Kate, "Don't come back for me." I was stupid enough to believe she wouldn't. A perfect example of how the show pretends to do something, when in actual fact it's doing NOTHING.

The only good bit was when Kate and Sawyer and the young girl go to find the boyfriend, and Sawyer tells the guy, "You're the idiot who fell for the wookie prisoner gag."

I liked how these guys know so much about the Lost crew that they managed to abduct John Locke's "father" who stole his kidney because they knew Locke was desperate for revenge.

I also loved the flashback story for John which explained how it was his "father" who caused his paraplegia.

I find it fascinating that the Island might have cured Locke's paraplegia and he is so desperate to stay that he would ruin the escape prospects of others.

I'm not really interested in guns blazing kind of action. I like to see how each character's flaws are systematically unraveled by their circumstances.

Also that whole storyline about how Desmond can predict the future is interesting. I wonder if Charlie will ever die...

It doesn't have much guns blazing I guess. Thats more 24 or Heroes or PB.

I'm absolutely loving this season. Each week I watch the episode and can hardly wait for the next one.

I don't mind that in the grand scheme of things that the story isn't making huge advances, I'm just happy that they're not being unneccesarily mysterious about every f***ing detail, like they were in season 2.

The fact is, if they're able to advance the story in small ways and add more and more depth to each character, then I'm ok with that. I don't give a s*** if the show isn't looking like wrapping up, as long as they keep me really entertained.
To me, season 3 has been f***ing entertaining.

I wonder when "the security system" will be revealed? I love how everyone just forgets about s*** like that as if it never happened. Mr Echo gets owned by it, Locke almosy get owned as well but there's no f***ing mention of it. I'm like Billy, I'll keep watching but it pisses me of how they don't explain anything but keep adding new s*** in.

I keep downloading and watching Lost out of morbid curiosity these days, like rubber necking at a car accident looking for blood.

A good indication on the shows popularity in the size of this thread.

The mystery has gone from the show, no more "what the" moments like in season 1 and less so in season 2. (altho the eyes opening when she is gettign buried was cool)

I have read that the producers consider the story already past the mid point tho , so things are slowing down and wrapping up.

I don't like how they are reintroducing the "Purgatory" theory again, it's as a bad as the "Then they wake up" theory.

I suspect Jack will be the baddy and Locke will be the goody, just because thats the complete opposite of what they are hinting at now.

I suspect Katie will get preggo from all the Hump-T-Bump with Sawyer putting her on deaths row.

I suspect I will not like the end of the story in 2 years time :(

And i think i may have been saying (screaming) "WTF" out loud when Katie started spewing the secret to Jack... what a silly out of place plot twist... there is Zero reason for her to rush over and tell him... ZERO!

Except to open the whole "We should tell her" dialog, but that could have been done better

I can see a puff of smoke, a screach sound then a scene of all the main characters waking up with a start and jolt at the same time sitting plane seats with the plane just landing. All looking confused and looking around at each other as they come to terms with the understanding it was all just a dream... but it was a shared dream...

Queue Twilight sound now

they seem to be really bumping Lost along at the moment. I bet it is because of the buzz heroes is generating. Someone up high must've told them to 'tell the f***ing story'.. At this stage in the first season they spent three episodes standing on top of the hatch contemplating whether they should open it or whether jack should carry on with his sulky poses.

'see you in another life time brother' when desmond was running up the baseball stand stairs and jack was there to. now that i think about it he probably saw the future back then so knew they would meet up, cool!

one thing i'm still confused by however was when hurley was in that psychward and the girl that he loved on the island was a patient aswell but they were sain on the island? was that a dream of hurley's. because it just showed that she was in there with him in there, but he wasn't aware of this. its interesting how everybody's lives seem to be tying in with one another, like they are all sorrounded/know of deaths in their lives before entering the island. sort of like they are being punished for previous instances in their old lives. *spooky music*

Well it wasn't the lower level guys who rose up against the scientists, it was the "hostiles" who caused the end of Dharma and took over all their facilities. It was a fairly big ep in the regard that we find out what happened to Dharma, but in usual Lost fashion they introduce more new things to think about just as they explain something else.

I think Richard (the Hostile who meets the young Ben) got younger over the years.

They have definitely reintroduced the purgatory possibility. With the fence holding out the hostile dead spirits.

And Jacobs hut is surrounded by a line of gray dust, similar to many rings of salt myths to hold in bad spirits.

I think Ben can not see or hear Jacob at all!

I suspect Locke will heal, the bullet missed his heart.

I hate going into detail with TV episodes because it's just fiction, but fast forward to 2m15s and you'll see. It's much clearer in HD (where that screengrab came from).

LOL at you guys missing the eps. Hehe.

They were being sneaking and released both eps today. Both were good but again there were too many flashbacks so I skipped thru them. Hopefully I didn't miss anything but I did see the coffin scene with Jack at the funeral place. Not really sure who was dead, maybe it was Sawyer seeing how Kate was all emo at the end of ep 23 when she met up with Jack. But I'm prolly way off though.

We probably haven't met who was in the coffin yet, or it was Michael, I mean think about it, he was from new york and worked in the construction industry. The clipping says a beam fell on this guy and he was from new york.

My guess is that he had his name changed and no one showed up for his funeral because he's a murderer and a traitor.

Episode was pretty rocking, I reckon they've killed all the ex-dharma guys except Ben now, maybe the hostiles (alpert etc) will join up with the losties and give us some mad island history pirate style.

Heh Rev, the flashbacks were cool, because they weren't actually flashbacks, they were flash forwards! I have a feeling they're going to start explaining things in flash-forwards instead of flashbacks (and open new questions in the process like who was in the f***ing coffin!). Good eps, but hi2u more questions being asked.

3 more season????? WTF?????

I swear to god if Ben is still in season 6 and saying "do you think I'm gonna tell you" or looks blankly at someone then walks away when they ask him a question I'm gonna kill someone. So far all 3 seasons could easily be broken down into 1 awesome season and the show would be rockin'. But no, they have to add stupid s*** in like some no-talent ass-clowns getting bitten by spiders. What did that have to do with anything? And what is up with the black mist that randomly flys around the place?

I'll keep watching though.

I did like it that jack grew some balls in the last episode and actually did something. bout time. unfortunately the flashforward confirmed what we'll get for the next 3 seasons.. instead of flashbacks of jack moping around feeling sorry for himself, we'll get flashforwards of jack moping around wishing he was back on the island moping around feeling sorry for himself...... and drawing out his responses.

ok im not sure if anyone realised this but they weren't really flash forwards. sure they were after they were rescued off the island, but when jack is moping around and talking with the other doctor he says "why dont u go get my father down here and see who is drunker", jacks father is dead. Also no one is talking to them about the plane-crash, it's like it didnt happen at all, or that when they get back, it didnt change time at all.

So you talk about peoples accidents every time you see them do you?
His ex wife should have said "Hi jack, are you still on drugs to dull the pain of the memories of that island you crashed on?"
And at the end jack was saying he wants to go back to the island, so i really dont know what part of your point actually had a point?

As for Jacks father, early eps had jack seeing him walking about the island, maybe they are going to continue that theme, maybe his father never really died.

Watch the scene again. The doctor gives him a very puzzled expression at that comment and goes to say something but shakes his head.
Also no one is talking to them about the plane-crash, it's like it didnt happen at all

They all got free travel passes, you know the part where he flies every friday.

Also the chief of surgery says "Dr Shephard? The hero .. twice over", the first probably referring to his role in getting rescued off the island.

Not exactly "like it didn't happen at all". Also, Jack's ex-wife is annoying.

but the comment about his father is interesting, are they suggesting he either comes back to life? or that he has lost the plot and the other doctor knows it

I assumed the coffin Jack was visiting was Michael? given the predominantly black neighbourhood he was in (that's racist), and that apart from Walt, he was pretty much abandoned with his estranged wife etc. With Walt appearing with Locke, I'm guessing they're alluding to Michael getting off the island only leading to a miserable isolated end? maybe it ties in somehow.

Charlie's death was laughable, absolutely no reason for him to lock himself in, and then he could have swam out the blast hole anyhow lol....

I thought the finale and its leadup was good, but theres just so many frustrating things, like Jack's continuity slip and it's meaning or lackof? The entire show hinges on stupid miscommunications and illogical ways people would never act in.. Kind of ridiculous, I'm semi-happy that as it stands it's practically an 'out', as much as a deeper mystery. They're off the island I'm semi-satisfied at a weak drawn out result, and now I could give a f***, because I'm not watching 48 episodes of on the island/off the island flash-forward/flash-backs.

He saved Desmond's life as he was frantically rushing towards Penny's voice. Plus, the inside of the door had a quick lock/close feature while the outside had a slow wheel.

(This ignores the fact that the place would have taken ages to flood. Also ignoring that they were in an air-pocket not at sea-level .. what would the air pressure have been to sustain that?)

Don't mean to over-analyse but hey, makes sufficient sense for a fictional show.

which says a lot, cause you're a retard.

the moon pool was basically a diving bell, so pressure would have been equal inside and out. the water would flow in due to gravity not a pressure difference.

I find it interesting that the thing most viewers are complaining about i.e. the flash forwards, is the first major attempt by the producers to change the show's approach.

seems like they're damned if they do and damned if they don't - yet people keep watching it!

Desmond told Charlie that he has to flick the switch and has to die, or the future as he saw it might not happen. As in Claire and the bay getting into a helicopter might not happen if Charlie doesn't die.

He could have ran throuhg the door and dived into pool and swam up, or grabbed an air tank, or he could have waited for room to fill with water and swam out window (it was big enough). But he made the choice to die because he thought that was the only way Claire and the baby could get off the island.

Thats how i saw it anyways.

Definitely ended the season on a high note. I assume that Jack had some role in choosing who gets off the island, but could only take a few and most get left behind. I was thinking that maybe he takes Ben just to torture him and that's who was in the coffin at the end.

One thing that I was still wondering about was the end of Season 2, when Locke and Desmond stop pushingn the button and thye hit the fail safe, some dudes in a boat get a signal then and then they radio Penny... surely the whole boat thing has to have something to do with that now?

Except in the newspaper shot the name seems to start with J.

So John Locke (doubt he would ever leave the island), James Ford (got impression that that was who Kate was going home to) or Jacob (not liekly)....

Also thought Juliet, but they say "he".

Maybe it was Jack, but some other alternative Jack.... twightly.

I am thinking it is probably more someone that we might not have met yet.

It was someone without friends or family. And that doesn't really count many out from the main crew.

I think its more a case of he realized he shouldn't of left cuz it was better there than where he is now, not so much as him feeling guilty for leaving anyone behind ???

I thought it would have definately been Sawyer in the coffin?

I thought thats why no one was at the funeral (Sawyer had zero friends) and also why Jack would have thought Kate would have been there.

Also Sawyers real first name is James.

hey douche drinker, it's not like they were staying for a picnic. they accomplished shutting down the station, they're done -- wouldn't have even needed them but they hair air tanks galore plus the main room would have flooded so slowly, and yes look again, the blast hole was massive.

he actually suicides and you're supposed to believe he's martyred himself for claire and baby, because desmond told him something may or may not happen. just like the other times, stupid.

yeah genius thats what i'm saying, you can read. did you see the size of the flooded room in comparison to the main moon-pool room? as i was saying beside the point, they were in no danger whatsoever, add to that he locked himself in a room to martyr himself for nothing -- stuff the whole desmond said the future might change crap, jamming stopped/rescue happens, just like naomi.. also that he could have easily swam out of there (when he floats lifeless the hole is clearly big enough to swim through). it was a completely stupid death, but anyway good riddance he was the worst character there.

thats the entire problem with the show, if you question a motive or the non-stop miscommunications, the entire premise is absurd.

Jacob seemed to be visible to Ben but not Locke, although Locke heard him say "Help Me". The freeze-frame image of Jacob showed him with a beard...just throwing it out there...but could that be the 'future' jack? And also, if Jacob can be visible or invisible, could he possibly be able to change appearance aswell? Eg. he came to Locke in the form of Walt? Dunno...weird.

autolux water would have come in via the moonpool as well, air would have gotten pushed out the porthole in the communications room, so it would have filled loads quicker. and the port hole was too small to swim out.

I dont have broadband so I dodged all the spoilers and watched the final episode of Season 3 the stone-age way ... on telly.

Anyway in the Courier-Rag an article mentioned a theory from the 'lost-theories' website. This theory stands apart from others in that it highlights a link between Lost and a book called 'Flash Forward' by Robert JAMES SAWYER published in 2000.

Here it is:
http://www.lost-theories.com/theories/2007/may/25/its-all-based-book/

Is 'Jacob' a future version of Jack?
http://www.lost-theories.com/theories/2007/may/24/jacob-reveal/

thought you schmo's might find it interesting.

Yes I agree the producers have stated there is no time 'travel'.
But I'm guessing that these theories are based around Jack/Jacob and others 'projecting' images/messages to the past or the future. Not the physical act of time travel.

The other ideas floating around that the island is in different dimension. The island may not be able to be located in our dimension but radio/TV messages maybe able to be sent between our dimension and the island.

Wow, there is some real crazy ass theories flying around in this thread.

I bet in the end there'll be some quasi-scientific explanation for everything. At very beginning the hatch was made out to be all mysterious voodoo, and then we find out, the strange light is just desmond wondering who was outside and turning on the porch light. And then the others were all mysterious and ninja-like, but no, they're just some scientists and fertility doctors brought in on a convinient left over submarine. Is Ben some kind of weird island communicating messiah? No, hes just an obsessed bug eyed son of Roger the Work Man that gets kicked out of his local book club. Lost seems to revel in solving its mysteries by revealing them to be completely mundane things, that we assumed were mysterious and magical just because we didn't fully understand them. Whats that Arthur C Clark quote? Something like "Any sufficiently advanced form of technology would appear to be magic".

Not to say I don't enjoy it, cos I do :P But I don't think theres going to be any real mystical explanation or inter-dimensional travel in the end, it'll have a relatively mundane explanation grounded in the pseudo-science of television shows. Case in point, the Dharma people said they were on the island to investigate some strange natural phenomenon, and the hatch that blew up was something to do with the island having really strong magnetic fields, so who knows, maybe that creates some kind of aura that makes people heal really fast or be healthier than normal (nobody ever gets cancer, Jin becomes a raging sperm producing machine, locke walks, etc). I mean, those informercials try to sell you magnets telling you they have great healing properties, thats enough science for a tv show to go on right there.

But yeah, I really liked the second half of season 3, and I'm interested to see where it goes next :)

I'd love to see their explanation for the "security system". Some magical black smoke thingy that can take images of what it sees always coming out of the forest randomly but no-one on the island seems to know what it is. The rest I can sorta handle because the survivors are finding stuff out a little at a time. But the security thing has been there from the very beginning and a few major things have happened regarding it but no-one has questioned WTF it is. Wait, I think Kate asked that blonde doctor chicky babe and she sorta gave her the old "I don't know" line.

Anyway, it's damn annoying. It's like the writers forget it even exists and then realize they haven't used it for ages and decide to chuck it in somewhere.
