Hey lads, I recently went on a trip to europe and I bought a JVC EVERIO Hard Disk Camcorder. It is like the best, digital ftw and the quality is awesome and no tapes or any of this bs.. You can also browse for all the clips you made, delete individual clips etc etc.. Well anyway, I copied all the clips to my pc, the files were in .mod file format. I had to convert them to .mpg format to use xp movie maker to edit and chop up some of the clips. Anyway, when I saved the footage, it saved it as .wmv format. Anyone know which format I need to convert this to so that it plays in your average DVD players??
Thanks :) |

neriovision express actually.
the "make video dvd" option in nero only burns the vob files that you've already made, does nothing more than set up the dir structure for you to drag your vob files over as far as I can see. Go check your dvd player, some of them can actually play wmv and mpg files without the dvd being a proper dvd. If you want compatibility with all dvd players though that might not be what you want. |

Ulead DVD WorkshopThings like this are your best options. I'm surprised your DVcamcorder didn't come with something. Fake edit: • Icon Event Pre-registration for easy playlist viewing and DVD creationYou didn't happen to get a copy of that with yours? |

yeah I did, but had to download the footage to pc for editing. I would now probably have to convert the footage to original format then upload it back to the camera I believe. Then you hook up the camcorder to a dvd burner and set it all up through the camera. I believe thats how it goes. Bit of mucking around.

^^^ wtf? I can just get the footage off the camera onto the computer, it's in dv format, I just whack it in ulead dvd something or other (not workshop) and away I go. Mind you all the programs I have are quite noob friendly and quite frankly they all piss me off. I want something like virtualdub that can save to mpeg :(
I got all my dvd creating software with various bits of hardware, burners, motherboards (wtf?) and my camcorder. Check the software you got with your burner to see what it holds. |
