Topic: Mobo to fit an XP3200+

thats right folks, im in need of a mobo to fit this amd 64 3200+ processor ive got lying around. basically the missus' computer carked it, and ive almost guaranteed its the motherboard. the ide controllers dont seem to be detecting any more than either 2 cd drives, or 1 hard drive. but all devices are working fine in my PC.

She currently has an ancient p4 2.8 processor and mobo to fit that, but i think they would be even rarer (but if anyones got a mobo to fit that, give me a yell!) I'll try and get the proper socket thingy for the p4, but the amd 3200+ is 939.

so if anyones got one spare for testing, or wants to sell one cheap, can you post in this thread? the reason i want to borrow or buy it cheap is that the pins are bent on the amd processor, so i wanted to see if i could test it and get it working before i go and spend money :p

thanks yo.

I only have a vague idea of what most of it means except:
the reason i want to borrow or buy it cheap is

because you're a tight arse right? Pimp moneys dry up?

AGP I assume? If so, go the Asus A8V from MSY for $79.

I've got one, pretty good budget motherboard.

orly, that sounds like a plan

basically chakas, 2 things.

if the cpu doesnt fit in because of the slightly bent pins, then ive wasted 80 buicks on a mobo.

also, if it isnt the mobo thats the problem with her system, then im screwed again :p

so test then buy if necessary is what i wanted to do :)

ps, you suck

if the pins are bent, gently bend them back...

yeah, basically i spent saturday on the phone to quite a few computer stores, and agp has become as rare as ever now.

i just want to get an el-cheapo to get her by until i do a proper upgrade on her pc and go for the pci-e vid card, new mobo, new processor fandangle

looks like im paying either minimum 60 bucks for a second hand one with unknown quality, or 90 for a 'new' one with '3 year warranty'

not bad, just an annoying amount of money to spend to get her computer up and running for 1-2 months until we can upgrade

ive got a bid on a second hand one, but if that pushes too high, theres a couple of 'new' asus ones for about 90 bucks including postage. so ill get that if all else fails
