Just saw this link on OCAU...

Clicky

Apparently, some investment banker has leaked that AMD have had board approval to buy ATI for $5.6b

Interesting reading the comments on that link... Apparently, nVidia have said they won't keep supporting AMD processors, and ATI have apparently removed intel chipsets from their roadmap... could lead to some interesting events in the CPU/GPU world...

Holy s***, the CPU support is news to me; it's kind've tragic, actually. Nothing good will come of this

That is interesting news if true, cause as it stands atm I'd say the most popular brands for primarily based gaming machines are easily AMD and Nvidia combos.

AMD were doing so well to match and even overtake intel. Now if they focus primarily on ATi, they are going to just go backwards. If intel focus's and works with intel, ill go back to intel for sure.

i may have an AMD now but its only because its a hand-me-down, i would always prefer the intel/nvidia combo any day.

If anything, an AMD/nvidia would be the combination of choice, considering the awesome nForce chipsets for AMD processors in the last few years.

the last intel cpu to live in my house was a celeron 633.

I deal with intels all the time at work, and they're not bad... I don't really care that much whats underneath as long as it runs nice.

dang it, that sucks 6800GT + AMD 64 3400 is an awsome combo, well any nVidia AMD combo is sweet really, but it will blow if nVidia stop supporting AMD..but i guess ATI graphics cards arent bad, alot of the time its only a small performance difference and sometimes they are even better but still this sucks.

haha koopz and no love for you tung

ive never had an intel chip, because im not rich enough to afford their exhorbitant retail prices (obviously relatively, for what you get)

also, i use intel at work and they are teh sux

ive always liked nvidia though, but if amd could buy ati and make them good, id be down
