Saw this today, 3pm session at Southbank. Place was fkn packed.

This movie rocks. I think based on the awesomeness of the first movie, everyone will have high expectations for this one. You won't be disapointed. So much action. So much comedy. So much lizard walk from JD. Seriously, go see this movie now.

While not as blown away by its sheer coolness as I was by the first one, I think that in many ways this movie is a lot better. Some of the action scenes are so complicated, choreophraphing them would have been the biggest motherf***er in the world.

All the CGI was very impressive, nothing looked plastic or fake to me, just generally cool. It has improved upon how cool all the undead dudes looked in the first one. Very nice.

Acting was good all round plus Keira is smoking.

Sets up very nicely for the next movie and I can't wait.

9/10.

Yeah this movie kicked ass. Haven't seen a flick this good in ages. Also our 6.30 / 7.30 / 8.30 and finally the 9.00 session we went to see were also sold out. Worth the trek off your seat to go watch it fellas.

The pure awesomeness of this film proceeds itself. I havent heard one bad word spoken of it.

Hopefully will get to this one on Saturday night if we can get in. Fingers crossed!

Not trying to be the sound of dissent, but I didn't think that movie was that great. It was quite well done, special effects and the like, but the story was laclustre and obfuscated and introduced very little from the first one.

Cliffnotes - Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest == The Matrix: Reloaded.

Want me to start?

I found it disappointing that Johnny Depp's character was diluted to the point where his sole purpose in the movie seemed to be to provide comic relief. Granted he had his funny moments .. but there were many situations/comments that were so unfunny and sad that it was painful.

More cool lizard walking and less talking like a git would have been nice :/

I give it 6/10 over the original's 7.5/10.

i agree with n-dude and parabol.

I didn't think it was very good. It was still worth watching, but not up with the 1st one.

It was too long and drawn out, and the sword fights seemed to go forever - they became very tiresome.

The story seemed to be a bit all over the place, and the characters seemed to be able to hop from location to location and back again pretty much instantly...ie not very realistic seeing as they're meant to be sailing on a ship.

The whole plot wasnt well explained at all. I mean u could follow it, but it just seemed messy.

And the fact that it's only half a film - to be completed with the 3rd movie, sucked.

Pirates 2 = Matrix Reloaded, as stated above.

saw it tonight... dissapointed. I really enjoyed the first one but this just didnt have the same charm. Im not really sure what it was that caused this though. The CG was very well done, the action sequences were impressive generally and there was some reasonable humor. However, somehow the end result just wasnt great. Depp didnt seem to be quite as entertaining this time around and the story really wasnt as tight as the first's.

It wasnt a bad movie by any means, it just didnt live up to the first. The matrix analogy is spot on. First film dazzles, 2nd two are good movies but not as much as the first.

the plot dragged on in my mind and didnt really conclude - and dont say sequel, even prequels are ment to come to some kind of conclusion.

Saw this last night at Germside and I agree with all the people saying negative things.

- Plot was all over the shop
- Seemingly main characters ended up being fillers for a quick joke
- Fight scenes were drawn out
- Matrix 2 ending = f***in suck.. If you can't fit the plot into 3hrs, go re-write the script (LOTR exception).
- Bringing back old cast members for the sake of people remembering who they were was pretty s***, get some new ones.
- Kiera didn't show nearly enough body shape and kept reminding me of her role in Bend it like Beckham
- Too little "Johnny" moments

Overall it rates lower than PotC 1.

They filmed the 2nd and 3rd films back to back with the intention of releasing them in short succession.... so they did that on purpose. Deal.

I agree johnnies character could have been played with a card board cut out. He had about 15 lines in a 3 hr period.

Further Orlando Bloom is on going proof that there is no god.

Matrix 2 and 3 were absolute pieces of horses*** on toast.
PotC 2 pisses on Matrix 2 & 3, actually even a Uwe Bolle Movie pisses on Matrix 2 & 3 which are possibly the worst movies ever created, ever.

No it wasn't you're just retarded.

The only long (and yeah drawn out) fight scene was the sword fight between Commodore, Jack and Will.

yeah i am a fan of the first and bought it on DVD, and was pretty excited about this one..

it was good, but not as great as the first one, like a lot of reasons listed here..however, I could not even compare it with the s*** that was matrix 2 and 3.

best movie of year still = V for Vendetta

it was alright, the whole omg pirates kick ass feeling you get from watching the first film was absent in the 2nd, thus i was disapointed. but as far as action flicks featuring pirates, big squids and tribal people go its pretty good.

Wrong.. seriously the plot was f***ing crap. Someone needed something so X had to get this to save Y to save Z. So please show me where the plot was above something that hasn't been done to death already and isn't a repeat of the first movie with just a different bad guy.

Riiiiight, she was still hot as and your comment just proves your others are on a gay bandwagon.

Wrong.. the Kiera comment was only one of a number. Mad props for trying to say we're on a bandwagon instead of focusing on the movie being so little when it had the potential to be so much more.

Oh, yeah... No doubting that.
But the quote was "it was all over the shop" which it wasn't, the actual plot made sense, how they went about it wasn't confusing either but it was exactly as you put it.

For what it was though, it was a good movie - to quote Evis.
"If the first one didn't exist - would you think this one is a good movie?"

Enjoyed it for what it was; I liked Davey Jones character but I do agree Depp's character could have been more like the 1st ones :)

Saw this today and god damn I'm so glad I saw this on the big screen! From start to finish I was totally into this movie, cast were fantastic, fight scenes legendary, CGI outstanding and Keira was a goddess!! Defiantly left me eagerly awaiting the third one. Not as good as the original (how many sequels ever truly are?) but a fine second edition to the POTC series.

Keira was so hot she deserves a second mention!!

This was without a doubt the most disappointing sequel I have EVER SEEN. I went to see it with two 14 year olds - basically the target demographic - and they were both hugely nonplussed by it as well.

f*** this movie, and f*** everyone that helped make it the box office success that it turned out to be, because now we get to look forward to even more s*** sequels with no plot as more and more brands are raped by Hollywood

I the movie could have been much better if it closed up some of the plot lines that it opened.

It is really anoying that various plot lines where opened up and not one of them was finished off. It didnt feel like a complete movie, because it wasnt.

SPOILER:

William Turner SO better turn evil next movie. The whole Davey Jones legand is a Love tale, Davey lost his love so he went nuts. The 2nd movie is implying that William has lost his love to Cap'n Jack, so it seems fitting that William takes over were Davey will surly leave off..

(Spoilers, though how this movie could be made worse I don't possibly know)

How does it not suck?! The plot wandered all over the place. The character development was confusing at best and utterly uninteresting at worst. Keira went from helplessly in love with Orlando to somehow mysteriously being attracted to Jack - or was she?!

There was not one, but two giant running ball/wheel scenes?!!?

The deadly Kraken that Jack is so afeared of can't tell the difference between Jack's hat, and Jack. Does that make it more scary, or stupid? If it's really smart, how come it couldn't tell that Orlando was floating on the water twenty yards from it after it sunk the boat he was on BECAUSE OF HIM?

The ending was a relief, though I had to say I experienced SERIOUS PANIC when Geoffry Rush appeared, because I thought it might launch into a whole new half hour long adventure where they went back in time and saved Depp or something. Instead it was teeing the game up for yet another iteration of toys, video games, and raping people at the box office with $15 tickets.

No, I saw that. Why was she so torn up about it? Why was there that whole scene with her and her ex guy where he said she was falling for him?!

It almost doesn't even matter whether she likes him or not, because now Orlando thinks she does, and that is obviously going to set the scene for their relationship at the start of the third movie.

Yeah, the sequel was s*** I reckon. And that whole beginning bit was a complete waste of time and had nothing to do with anything except to fill in 30 minutes. Thinking back on it, there was bugger all to the movie and certainly no where as entertaining as the original was. If you wanna see something fun, watch Crank. Awesome flick!
