Hey guys, I have a Sony ericsson w800i which kicks some arse. Only thing is my current old cd player won't play mp3's so is there a device that I can buy to play mp3's through my system..

Btw, my phone has headphone jack if that helps..

Thanks.

ps: I heard that the ipods have a little device that your fm radio tunes into and plays it that way.

yeah i think i have the same phone marty, it does kick a whole lot of ass.

also, you can afford a 300z convertable, but you're too tight to throw in a ~$500 head unit which would be 10x better than the stock one and could play mp3? ;)

yeah I've got one of those ipod FM transmitter things, works easy as piss, set an unused frequency on the thingy, (I usually use 88.9) tune your car radio into the same station, viola, your own radio station.

I got a car charger for it too and plug it in whenever I use it as it drains quite a bit of battery, I think I bought the iTrip one, but be careful there's a few dodgy ones out there by different companies.

You can even buy a gay assed s.e transmitter to plug directly into the phone

^well the quality sounds the same as radio... distorts when you turn it up. Is it the stock head deck? If its a decent brand it may have an Aux In plug in the back and you could just run a cable into the headphones jack but you said it was old so this may not be the case. FM transmitter may be the only way to go they are fairly cheap iirc.

either the mp3player is distording or the FM Transmitter cant handle the loud input. Dont turn the mp3player up so loud, have it no higher than 75% use the stereo to increase volume

same, mine's about 3/4 volume, any higher and it distorts, otherwise it's fine, you'll never get CD quality out of it but it's perfectly aduquate unless you've got some sort of crazy stereo setup in your car and sound quality has to be premium

Yep it is unfortunately :/

You need to turn the iPod vol down and turn your HD vol up. Turning the iPod vol up too far would probably cause it to clip and distort as you have heard.

I have done this with the w800I that I had until its was lost/stolen (thats another story). All I did was get an FM transmitter that plugged into the ciggarate lighter and has a line cable that u plug into the headphone output.

On a side note, if u clip the mic that is on the same cable somewhere that it will pickup your voice you can actually use the car stereo as a handsfree speakerphone. I have done this and its works quite well.

Yeah man spent all my money on buying the car lol :/

But i'm saving up for one of these babies (or something similar), otherwise i would already have had a $500 head unit :)
