Apple have released a firmware update and software so that you can natively run XP without the hacker method. Comes with drivers for the Apple hardware as well. promoted forum item

i really dont see the point to this..if you want to run WinXP just build your own PC FFS for half the price.

i really dont see the point to this..How about you can have a professional recording setup + dual-boot and run any win32 app (games etc)? Exactly what I intend to do... |

I see the benefits in terms of having that "safety net" .. basically use OSX as the primary OS and in the event you need to use an application that requires XP, just dual-boot over to it.
It's resparked my interest in purchasing a MacBook Pro for work purposes with the occasional reboot to play some games. |

Not much use for the casual home user, but as a developer I can definitely see the advantages. Unless you already have a mac and miss the Windows based games that never make it across ;)
If all I did at home was play games browse the web and use IM I wouldn't see much point to it either. However since I do all of the above and more, it hardly makes any sense to me to have had a seperate mac machine/ix based machine or what not. One machine that I can do both/all? sign me up, now I just have to wait for my current hardware to become obsolete :( |

I'll definitly get a MacBook Pro when my lease runs out on the inspiron. Rock solid recording envioronment of OSX with the compatibility of WinXP. Dont even attempt to say XP is a viable tool for recording, in my experience it chokes on a massive cock whenever you want to do something more than 'basic' in the field. However i've used the same software packages on G4's with much better results.
So for me its awesome, and will definitly make my PC based work alot easier. |

you dont have a clue do you? The macs this works on are INTEL BASED MACS. Its the same hardware, and you statement was wrong anyway even if you were talking about G5 systems, its all about the right tool for the right job. And i've never seen OSX running on a PC before.

i bet M$ is pissed about this, then again makes you wonder why they moved to intel cpus (me thinks of xbox 360 power pc G5 tipple core cpu)
good news for intel mac owners, as for the people baging the price of the powerbook, i dare to you to compare prices with similar speced notebooks and not desktops. |

its been possible to run osx on any pc (intel or amd) for at least 6 months now. it isn't 100% perfect (nor legal), but it ran pretty damn fast.

OSX on a beige pc runs pretty fast, but driver problems, TPM and rosetta problems.
I think its about time mac users should stop trying to educate windows users, its like talking to a wall. |

Time to put a 500GB HDD in my Mac I guess. Tested this myself, works beautifully. Need to get a shared partition now so I dont need the same data files for stuff like Q3, WoW etc on both partitions.
Edit: Ehehehehehe, 354fps with my Q3 settings. 327fps with the settings maxed, that doesn't seem right :? last edited by Raven at 21:10:36 06/Apr/06 |

If only you could dual boot into Win98. Then we could see a Mac BSOD. :-D
