I was informed some time ago of the first big event of 2006.

The band in question is europes thrash kings THE HAUNTED and their support is none other than Bay Area Thrashers EXODUS.

So that's THE HAUNTED with support from EXODUS, this is an event for all metal heads to not miss.

THE HAUNTED headline tour of Australia:

Mar. 05 – Perth, AUS @ Heat
Mar. 06 - Melbourne, AUS @ Hifi Bar
Mar. 07 - Sydney, AUS @ The Forum
Mar. 08 - Brisbane, AUS @ The Arena

If it was exodus's tour then yes it would be other way round, but it's the haunted tour.

Pity ya can't make it, the night is going to be jam packed full of mayhem.

yep bean bag..

When opeth were last here, i felt like i needed a bean bag to watch them play.

Don't get me wrong they write some awesome music, but for myself who prefers metal harder and faster..just made me need a bean bag.

Haha. Great Thread.

Coheed - One of the worst bands ever.
Haunted - Only one good thing about this tour; I Killed The Prom Queen having national support.
Funeral For A Friend - Maybe decent in 2000.
The Alkaline Trio - Crimson. Enough said.

Only decent upcoming shows are by Comeback Kid. Underoath and Ringworm future tours could be fun.

xJimmyx, if you think that the only good thing about the haunted tour is some gay arse band called I Killed The Prom Queen then you are sadly mistaken.

Thinking that I Killed The Prom Queen are greater than the haunted and even exodus just shows your lack of knowledge in music and appreciation.

And stop posting crap about non metal bands..this is thread about metal bands..not emo, not hardcore nor rock..METAL ONLY!

do the X's mean straight edge?

the one thing i can't stand about emo or hardcore or whatever type bands is the "fashion". eg wearing makeup, having random patches in the side of your hair dyed, growing your hair so its just past your eyes, or maybe growing one side longer than the other and combing it over...god just play your damn music. i'm not paying out on the genres of music themselves...i'll listen to anything with guitars really bar jazz and classical (i know, i'm uncultured)...i'm just whinging about the fashion trends that bands feel they have to follow. there's nothing sillier than seeing a band onstage dancing in the spot with their emo haircuts.

that being said, seeing Dimebag onstage with his long hair, beard and cowboy hat playing Cowboys from Hell is one of the coolest sights in my book.

So whats the difference between "Diebag" (lol) with his redneck figure, beard, long hair, cowboy hat, and some Emo fag with their different length hair, with some bits dyed, wearing makeup? Both play different styles of music, as well as having their own "fashion".

Get over it.

yeh you're right, i guess my dimebag comment was to kind of say "whatever floats your boat"... not to make myself soundlike your average metalhead who flames emo music. i would rather think of emo and metal etc as styles of music, not fashion or personalities.

Yeah thats what I was meaning too, it's about the music not dress sense. So many people lower themselves to bitching about what people wear? Who f***ing cares, not like I'm one of the goth emo bone faces, I'm just saying I like a bit of emo music, and most of the bands tend to dress and act emo, but whatever, doesn't worry me. I like a lot of music from classical to metal to emo and hardcore. It's all good s***.

HATEBREED, DISTURBED, KORN.

haha Hatebreed will kill those two s*** bands.

For what might seem like time-eternal, Australian metal fans have dreamt of their own big show. After all, the damn hippies seem to get some kind of Roots Festival every weekend where they can gather on some cow paddock and exchange vibes with other vocationally challenged people of questionable hygiene.

Sure, there have been special moments such as the Metallica & Kyuss tour or the Slayer & Machine Head team-up. Big Day Out probably came closest with System Of A Down and Slipknot on the same bill in ‘04. But our island in the Pacific has NEVER witnessed anything like this before…

KORN + DISTURBED + HATEBREED +10 YEARS
CONFIRM APRIL TOUR OF AUSTRALIA

Exploding out of the post grunge era, KORN, systematically picked the metal community up by the scruff of the neck, shook it around, and dropped it on its arse! The first decade of KORN ushered in a new era in heavy music with each of their 6 albums spawning hit after hit and catapulting KORN to the forefront of the heavy music.

Now entering its 2nd decade literally hundreds of imitators have been and gone, yet KORN remain at their peak, undaunted by the revolving door of pop music fads. Their new album, See You On The Other Side, is their most unrelenting musical maelstrom to date. The video for the first single Twisted Transistor has seen video request shows everywhere go in to meltdown featuring Snoop Dogg, Xzibit and ‘Lil Jon, it’s a spinal tap esque parody of KORN’S life and experience in the music industry.

Joining KORN, with their brand new album Ten Thousand Fists are Disturbed, another act renowned for their incredible live shows.

Never ones to do anything by halves, Korn will also be bringing out hardcore legends Hatebreed. Last seen on the 2005 Big Day Out, Hatebreed will be bringing their A Game and bone splintering live show to add fuel and fire to this already stunning bill.

With Metal fans already salivating and counting their pennies, the hottest newcomers to heavy music, 10 years, handpicked by KORN to join them on their current US tour, will be making their way to Australia for the first time to round out this all conquering event!

QFT except DK's aren't really punk, more New Wave, but you make a valid point

At the risk of agreeing with emo boy, Korn and all the nu-metal bands like them are horrible commercial sellout pieces of s*** with zero credibility among true music fans.

However you should all stop making your little fairy bracelets and pick up some some real metal: Slayer, Damaged and Strapping Young Lad ftw.

Metal is lame.

I am sorry to tell you this, but without it none of your homo watered down s*** would even exist. Just like metal and any hybrid of it wouldn't exist without heavy rock bands such as Black Sabbath, Motorhead and AC/DC. Who in turn wouldn't exist without Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Cream and The Who. And so on. So know your roots and don't shoot yer mouth off about how some band started in 2004 is the be all and end all of ANY type of music.

Unless you want to look like a complete d******* who doesn't know s*** about music.

There endeth the lesson.

Ponks.

What I dont get about all these emo hardcore kids is how can they not like metal too? I like a pretty broad range of tunes and my favourite artists range from beasties boys to bad religion to slayer to johnny cash. So I find it hard to comprehend how someone can like hardcore, a style of music so similar to metal and not at the very least like some melodic death.

Which leads me to beleive it must just be all about the fashion rather than the music, the angry kids that go to shows to feel hard, dress up and slam dance.

Anyway, Mudvayne was a great show. Looking forward to Opeth, Karnivool and the Overcranked festival (Clutch!) and probably heading to Haunted. Undecided on Static-X because as much as I like them, Ill-nino went way too generic after Rizo left for soulfly.

Will be almost definitely giving Korn and Disturbed a miss, they arent worth that ticket price anymore. Only saw them last time because of Fear Factory and Static-X.

Dan knows where it's at. I went to the last Korn concert purely for the reason I really used to like and old s***, and the fact that Static-X, Sunk Loto (N), and Fear Factory were playing, and it was mad.

As far as hardcore goes, I really dig it. But I'm a lover of both hardcore and metal, and when I say metal I mean death metal, power metal, metal, metal-core, and mostly prog-metal, it's the s***.

Tix for Opeth go on sale tomorrow, so it looks like I'll be buying 2 tix for the 2 melbourne shows :D:D
