I was goin through EB games the other day and as usual could not find any games 2 my liking, i dont know about the majority of other PC gamers but i am sick of that store, it seems they are more concerned about the console gamer population being the fact that they outnumber us quite severly and EB being the corporate a******s they are, are mainly targeting the most profitable platform, so us poor PC gamers have 2 put up with only small selection of games. so enough bitchin, does any1 know of any pc game stores where we have more of a selection?? not just the new releases and anything that came out a month before that.

You are right. An xbox is probably bigger than my PC.

I usually have some difficulty finding the PC section in EB, hence I don't bother going there anymore. Plus they are a rip-off.

i find myself using playstation 2/xbox/dreamcat more these days then pc gaming, having said that i think warez killed off the pc gaming industry.

EB is always a rip off. Note what the 'B' means. Such stores merely sell standard goods at upmarket prices.

Well then get them to price match, they'll happily do that. They'll even do it after the fact, if you bought something and then within a week of your purchase find it somewhere else cheaper, they'll refund you the difference.

I always buy from EB just for their 7 day no questions asked return policy, thats saved me from being stuck with a few crappy games in the past. Most of the EBs I go into have a reasonably decent PC range, and if they don't have something in stock, they'll usually be able to order it in for you.

Maybe they just have more console games because, well, theres more console games than PC games? Ever think of that?

that is so true the 7 day return has saved me a bit of money..and they have always been willing to match the price with almost anyone, they wont match gameswarehouse though, but HN will then i just go to EB and Say HN will do it for this and they always beet HN..therefore EB rule.

the eb at redbank is filled with retards. I don't know why I even attempt to ask them questions.

me "Hi, do you know when Auto Assut is due out"
eb "Is that for xbox"
Me "I don't even know why i come to redbank eb, you are all retarded".
eb "retards, are they on xbox"
me "I guess so"

I've never had a problem with EB and am a loyal customer, they happily price match and take returns, and know me and my gaming habits well enough to point out special deals and pre-order bonuses they think I'll be interested in.

I PC game as well as console game and there's a large wall of PC games at the Indro store though the change to small box format makes it look smaller than it used to be. They have a table of discount PC games that's being constantly refreshed and they're selling an increasingly large range of PC peripherals at great prices (In fact I'm looking at a new keyboard and VoIP headset I bought half price at EB this week).

My only complaint with EB is their trade in values are ridiculous, and you're better off selling games on Ebay or at Cash Converters. Example the DS/Nintendogs or DS/Mario Kart packs are $188 retail or $168 with 3 games... 3 games for $20 saving?! Sod that.

I got sick of arguing with them about their $5 extended warranty.

"We have a special promotion running at the moment where for $5 the warranty will last a year."
"Thats ok, I'll be ok without it"
"You really should, it's only $5"
"But I don't want it"
"But you need it!"
"No I don't"
"But..."
"I'm fine without it."
etc.

Took me 10 minutes to buy a game for f***s sake. Had a couple of people try and tell me that without spending the $5, I couldn't return it at all, even if I got home and it didn't work.

In summary, EB can get f***ed.

Well those people are wrong.
You can take anything back within 7 days of buying it and they will take it no questions asked.

When I said a couple of people, I meant the salespersons at the stores, not random people. Which is why I was annoyed.

And that's how Xy got shot... *does MGS style "Xy? Come in Xy! Xy?!?!? XYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"*

I find that EB is good for the rare bargain, pre-ordering or finding collector's editions of stuff. Appart from that, the staff tend to be total n00bs. I remember a year ago you couldn't go in there and buy anything without them trying to sell you an Xbox.
*Tries to buy a metre of network cable for a few bucks*
"Did you know that the Xbox is a superior product with better graphics and features?"
"Meh, all the games I like are on PS2 and GCN"
"But it's only a matter of time before all those games are on Xbox"
"Yeah I look forward to Smash Bros on Xbox"
"It will happen eventually"
"Look, I just want this today"
"Ok then we just need your 10% deposit on the Xbox today then you can come back and pick it up any time"
"NO. I DON'T WANT AN XBOX"
*Sales assistant's eyes glow red and he suddenly grows 10 feet tall, sprouts wings and horns* "You shall buy an Xbox! It has been forseen by the great Bill Gates. I invoke his powers now to smite you with the horror that is System Restore!!!"
*I pulled out my buster sword and omnislashed his ass to pieces, then all these attractive women were...

Everybody else was making little dialogues... I just wanted to fit in.

Aye and a hearty rant it was lad, I congratulate you on working the omni-slash into it :D.

Was different at chermside EB they were always trying to palm off those slim line ps2's onto me.
"So it will cost me 300 bucks and has less features than the ps2 I told you I already own? no thanks, as much as I feel like wasting my money in your shop today it won't be for something I already own!"

I have picked up some awesome deals in the EB up here recently though ... it seems the 50% off sale is a permanent thing now (well it's been on the last 4 times in a row i've been in now).

Picked up all the robotech series DVD's for about 200 bucks less than it would have cost to get them in seperate cases.

Yeah, the EB at Chermside always seemed to be staffed by noobs the few times I went there, the one in the city is pretty cool though. Theres a guy who I think might be the manager, cos hes always in there when I go in there and he knows his s***, and he plays WoW! Always good getting served by him cos he'll actually give you honest opinions about the games because hes actually played them himself, rather than just a canned sales speech.

The big guy with the glasses (no, not me, the OTHER big guy with glasses) who used to work at Garden City and then moved to indro is pretty rockin too.

the warranties are the only thing the staff get bonuses/comission on. so if they are generally doing their job well and they offer it, dont be stingy! they need to feed their kids! buy a warranty!

One thing I've always wondered: how does the 7 day return thing worth with games that have online CD-keys? Do people just buy the game, take the key, then return it for a full refund?

I'd hate to be the next chump to come along and buy the same piece of software and receive a key that's already in use by some dirty nicker.

They dont do the 7 return policy on online only games anymore (ie, stuff like WoW). When you buy a game like that, they'll warn you that you can't return it.

I find going to an EB where the staff know you, and know you know more about games and hardware than they could ever *hope* to goes a long way to making your shopping experience a better place.

Stops short a lot of the dumb sales pitches too

Noob staff member: "Would you like to buy an x... "
Manager: "She's already got one, in fact she's got one of everything, except for this shiney new pre-order that she needs"
Amaya: "Oooooh neeeeeed, please take my soul, also first born... neeeed"

Damnit I'm a sucker when it comes to shiney things *sniffle*

Xy: Marriage eh? Make your pitch, real life gamer geek chicks are a rare commodity your offer must beat out all other bidders ;)

Well I can certainly help you with the trading the first born for shiney things as I would be willing to do much the same thing :D
I mean ... shiney new stuff, as if not trade off children for it!

I have years of experience as a gaming geek and hence know that when the aforementioned shiney new stuff arives I won't see you for many an hour of exciting game filled fun but will be ready to share in the fun of the stories of regaled glory and laugh at witty anecdotes about your fallen foes when you are ready.

Should you be interested perhaps we could discuss this further in private? ;P

Khel, I know the guy in the city you are talking about, and sadly, that's usually where I go to purchase my 60 day game cards for WoW.

I walk in, and he knows what i'm there for, he's just waiting for me to walk up and ask for a game card, and when I do, he gets this cheezy grin on his face and starts talking to me about WoW, for a long time.

Me: "Alright, cheers for that"
Him: "So yeah, I hate getting ganked by Rogues when i'm leveling in the Badlands, I mean, once they ambush you, you can't really do anything, I can try to trap him, but he has his skill to detect traps, and he just runs around them, it's so annoying, you know?"
Me: *walks out*
