My mate is having trouble with his PC as it's just randomly turning on. Does anyone know why this would be happening and what can be done to fix it?

os - win xp pro
cpu - amd duron 900mhz overclocked to 1ghz
mobo - Aopen MK77MII
ram - 512 ddr
hd - 20gb x2

If you need more info I'l ask and post it up..

Could be a mobo short... or a dodgy power supply... or a bad power board (odd voltages running through your case can do some pretty wacky stuff). I'd suggest you make sure the power switch is still mechanically sound, but if his machine doesn't randomly turn off as well than that's an unlikely cause.

I remember there were reports of Chaintech mobos turning on by themselves but I see ya mate doesn't have one.
