What are you guys using to download files (via HTTP/FTP) when the files are bigger than the magic 2.1gb mark? Apparently FlashGet doesn't work. wget 1.10.2 appears to work fine. Just looking for some good Windows clients to recommend to BigPond Files users now that we have LFS support for downloads.

As if FlashGet doesn't work. I downloaded a 2.9GB file with it a few months back!

Filezilla works fine for me, I've transferred files bigger than 2.1Gb before using it.

Hmm, maybe the people that are telling me its not working are using an old version. Are any of you guys on BigPond and able to test a URL for me?

I just tried to get a 4gig iso with an old version of flashget, it seemed to crop it at 188meg so I'd say your users are also using an old version.

I'm on bpa, can test if u want but I'd say my above statement covers it :) (whoop_69_@hotmail.com if you want to msn/email me the _'s aren't antispam they are really part of my email)

flashget tells me filesize unknown, got an md5 of it to be sure it came down completely and without error?
I'm trying:
flashget 0.96a (it is VERY old, it still has jetcar stuff all over it), then I'll try opera/mozilla's built in downloaders & see how they go. I'll skip wget since you say its known to work & not really a noob friendly program, though maybe its got a GUI somewhere?

trog, what about wackget?
WackGet is a download manager for Windows. It maintains a queue of files and downloads them (using wget) in the order you specify.

WackGet is a minimalist application. It doesn't tax system resources, doesn't require a lot of screen real estate, and doesn't include extraneous features. It's free, ad-free, and is lovingly developed and maintained by the hip people at Millweed.com.

One can also download a firefox extension to link the two programs for easier use. I just used it and found it to be exactly as described (simple). Pretty cool!

Just extra info: the wget DLL comes packed with the installer, so you only need to get the one wackget package to start downloading, no configuration or f***ing around necessary.

yeah I just tried winwget ( http://www.cybershade.us/winwget/ ), I had to update wget to the latest version but after that it seems fine, only time will tell.

I've found Firefox to be not so great in continuing a download if the session is interrupted or the browser is closed before the download is complete (accidental or deliberate)

Luckily thanks to broadband that is less of an issue as you can usually redownload most files from scratch in no time, but a big issue for larger files that use up more of your time and quota :/

I've got the download window set to open on download so even if I do close the browser the download continues in the little window.
