in my opinion, the best thing to do is go the first time and not really *expect* to pass unless you have actually botherd to study for it, to get a good idea what is in the test, so the next time and have a good idea of what is on the test. the only ones that can be a bit tricky are the giving way diagrams, the rest of them are pretty basic :)

study sorta the first time. if you get it then excellent.
if you fail, then you know what to expect and will do real well the next day.

Yes. Unfortunately you'll probably have to study to pass it. I think they let you have 3 mistakes, right?

I could have got my license 6 months ago.
And I could have got my learners another year before that.
But, I'm lazy.

Heh Bob, I've done almost the same thing...got my L's ages ago, but only because my dad made me...failed twice, some stupid questions about distances, sif I'd know that.

Haven't driven yet tho. :\

Here's one that stumped me: Supposedly you're ALWAYS meant to give way to pedestrians. Now of course I'm not going to run them over if they're in the middle of the road, but if I see someone standing on the side of the road it's not as if I'm going to stop for them unless they're at a pedestrian crossing. So remember; the answer for 'When are you supposed to give way to pedestrians' is (supposedly): Always.

Snitch : - The idea is, if you hit a pedestrian YOU ARE at fault, regardless.

If they step out in front of the car suddenly while on the highway (WTF were they doing there in the first place), yep, you guessed it... you're at fault...
you're supposed to "expect the unexpected".

after you've been driving awhile you learn to predict what people are going to do next by looking at their rear vision mirrors of their face, the position of their car on the road etc.

Is that a Hit and Run?

Well if that's true then it's a load of crap. People can easily jump in front of a car unexpectedly, or at least quick enough that it's impossible for the driver to stop. I've seen this happen myself when I was at a concert. This nutty guy ran straight onto a road without looking and whammo! There's no way the driver could've seen it coming. He f***ed up her car pretty bad too. Bye bye windscreen.

snitch - unfortunately its the way it is... You could probably get away with it in court if you had witnesses etc. if the guy sued..

but, by law and theory, Peds have right of way in all situations...

they gave him his full provisionals!!! its yellow and even says "driver's licence" just like a full provisionals... except his says "type : L" whereas real provisionals say "type : P"

Amusing little story :)
pity if he hit a ped insurance wouldn't cover him cause he's not licenced...

I drove like I drive in need for speed, the instructor was alarmed at how close I could get to stuff without actually hitting it.....driving towards a set of traffic lights...they were green.....they went orange....I put pedal to metal.....I got through before they went red.....I still passed >:-)

I get my full open licence in october (my driving skills & speed traps permitting) then I get more points to play with (read: lose) muwahahhahahaha

took me 2 goes to get my learners & 2 goes to get my P.

failed the learners coz I read a questoin wrong or something, failed my P coz a f***ing stop sign was hidden behind a tree & I didn't see it. Supid mother f***er council should cut trees down near street signs.

Just buy a volvo, u dont need a licence to drive a volvo, they dont behave like they need one, THEY OWN THE FARKIN ROAD!

It's a cheap shot, but there's an old saying, many a true word is spoken in jest.

:)

btw, i got my licence 20 yrs ago, still got the f***er.

Well if you think you will have trouble with the exam then simply cheat, its not like a proper exam, they dont even watch you do it, you could literally bring in your phone and ask somone on the other end... Or bring in the book, so many ways, I can only assume they never think anyone will cheat because of the ease of the test, and if they catch you.... so what?

stop generally means, completely free of motion.
ever thought of why there were stop and giveway signs? A giveway sign is stop if theres any traffic coming, if none u dont have to fully stop... :D

Well it's true that some stop signs are debatable as to how reasonable they are. On the other hand I've seen some intersections at which you can't see if traffic's coming even if you do stop.

yeah theres tons of signs ive seen stuck behind trees and powerpoles n stuff.
I took my driving test at Sherwood, i drove over the area about 6 times beforehand, then in the test we went like down 3 streets id practised on then out somewhere id never been and along the highway :)

the Council is fukkin' stoopid...

The speed bumps they put on Hamilton road are
a) virtually non-existant (those big long ones that dont do s***)
b) I can still get up to 90k/hour between each speed bump, so they're doing nothing to reduce speed along with point a)
c) the signs that state they are there were placed DIRECTLY behind a big f***ing bushy tree... they only just got re-cemented in INFRONT of the tree...

stupid council... bloody fewls

I got my learners and P's first go (surprised me). The only question that s***s me is one of the give way ones - it says you've got to give way to someone on the right. Even when they are turning across traffic in front of you. At least that's what the test makes it look like. Now who would expect to turn across a lane and expect people to give way (except maybe a Cabbie)?

I know one guy who got his license by driving to the copshop and saying "I want to get a license". The cop asked "Do you know how to drive?" and he replied "Well I got here didn't I." And the cop just gave him the license. Of course he's about 70 now and he got his license somewhere out bush, it's not quite that easy now.
