I thought I might tell you all this so you know what to look forward to at QGL LAN.
It seems that many fine Counter-Strike players seem to have decreased interest in the game since the release of CS1.0. So, to provide something *interesting* for such players to do, and by popular demand ( primarily by DeePer :P ), I will be bringing my own server to the QGL 2000 Finals to run a Counter-Strike Beta 6.6 dedicated server. The specs of the machine are Celeron 633 @ 1GHz, 128MB (or 256MB depending on whether or not I can come up with another $150 on time) RAM, IBM 34GXP 7200rpm ATA/66 Drive, Windows 2000 Professional.
I have never tested it to any extent as a game server before because most of the stuff is brand new, but hopefully it will turn out to be a decent server (which I am sure it will).
I will have the beta 6.6 and HL1.1.0.1 installation files shared from the server.
DeePer is looking forward to oWninG j00 aLL in Beta 6.6 so I hope there will be a lot of players keen to challenge him :D

Oh, and I forgot to say that the server will be doing stats which will be available through http (provided that these stats work on B6.6).

It will b fun for ppl to c how newbified they r in Beta 6.6 after playing the clutter that is CS1.0. Stats will reflect this....

And while we're on the topic I'll bring my computer and run it as a dedicated frogger server.... I will run stats and we will get a good idea of how much CS 1.0 is to frogger...
I will compare these stats at the end of QGL.
This will be run dedicated on my PC - P3-600, 256 Meg ram, 30 gig IBM 7200 ATA/100 and most importantly for server aspects it has a keyboard, mouse and a spare USB port.

just make it 3.1 cause we got a schmall copy of beta3.1 down to about 200megs with cs, and we chopped out the rest of the unneeded s***.

You could install 6.6 on the server and share the HDD...peeps who want to play could just leech it straight off. Could slow thing down though I suppose. BTW, would anyone be interested in a game of Delta Force: Land Warrior?

It is easy to instlal different versions, just rename the cstrike direcory to another name and then install the version you want under the cstrike directory. Once finished with it rename it to something else and remane the one you want to ply to cstrike

also any body interested in Shogun, Rune or Mid town 2 at the fianls. I will be runnig a dedicated rune server on our server box. (p3 733, 256 ram)

Rune is a sword fighting game on the unreal engine, it is great with more than 6 players.

If you're going to run a 'historic beta' server run a decent beta like 3.1 which totally kicked ass :D

I mean, 6.5 was alright, but if people are going to do the whole reinstall old patches and stuff we may as well play the best beta!

Ill go RUNE if I can leech it off someone. Shogun owns as well, but my comp is a bit slow for multiplayer.

Yea i will have rune shared for ppl to leech to play multiplayer, btw the server will be 101, my copy is already that so if u leech it it will be patched.
