I cannot get ADSL because I have a phone line that is pair gained :(
Does this mean its the same for ISDN?
Im wondering why I cant request a new number that is not pair gained.
I think there has to be enough lines as there is a new estate being Built across the road.
Surely they won't pair gain them all.

I would say you're screwed; ISDN is far too expensive for mere mortals (ie, anyone).

Well if I can't get ISDN it means I can get a nice rebate on satelite.
Its not going to give me the ping but at least ill have some bandwidth.

I'll bet they'll give you ISDN if you got the cash but they are doing pair-gain or remote multiplexed for almost all new developments. They don't want to spend the cash on new lines back to the exchange. I'm in the same boat. sux eh.

So how are they going to make this service avaliable to 90 % of Australians?
Or do they mean It's in the exchanges that cover 90 % of the pupulation.
So the newer the property the less chance you have of getting it.

I just thought id look into it a little further.
We have two phones lines the one I use for internet is pair agained and of course that is the number I quoted to the telstra guy.
I thought id ring back and find out if the other phone line was the same.
even the testra dude said it wasn't likely.
But when he checked
woohhhhoooo its not pair agained.

Took me a while to convince my parents that you can still get phone calls at the same time though.
