There is an interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald about Lorikeets becoming intoxicated in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

I have seen this first hand at my cousins. They live up in Darwin and have these massive mango trees. The fruit becomes ripe and falls off onto the ground and begins to rot (they have too many mangos to eat).

The lorikeets come along and eat the rotting mangoes and become drunk and start doing crazy things.

I remember at primary school there were a bunch of trees with very vibrant red flowers, fairly small, no idea what they were called... Anyway, the lorikeets would fly in, drink up big then fall out of the tree, no longer sober enough to stay up. Hilarious for primary school kids to watch the things fall out of their tree.

Heh, it's even funnier when they fall outta the tree, stupid birds just get back up and keep eating.

As to em getting drunk an falling outta the trees, it is pretty funny. Mind you, don't try an pic em up when they do. I did that once when I was about 5 an the f***er near took the tip of my finger off.

Sonofabitch couldn't fly but he sure could f***ing bite !
