I'm tossing up whether I should try it or not, followed discussion of the beta a fair bit and it seemed pretty fun

I wish I had got this instead of Lineage 2..which has really lost my interest I haven't played it for about a week.

I think I'll wait until a free trial comes out though.

Its true, the katana slicing and dicing action is definately the win. Mid air katana slice is even better!

One of my characters in a heroic pose, set against the backdrop of the city he has sworn to protect.

Theres a great article on page 5 about violence in video games.

You can buy a cd key direct from the website and download the client, that costs $49.95 US and you get your first month included free. After that I think its $14US a month.

Typo and co aren't playing it yet, they're doing the sensible thing and waiting till their holidays so it doesn't take over their lives and make them fail uni :)

I'm on the Justice server as Ironfist. As well as being fun it's incredibly addictive... must finish work early to play more...

Damnit, everyone should just choose one server and play on there so I dont have to split my time :P

I have Captain Toasty, the level 6 Science Blaster on Justice, Psychotron MkII the level 8 Technology Controller on Liberty and Sgt Justice, the level 5 Natural Tanker on Liberty as well.

I'm mostly playing my controller now, but if theres a few on justice, I'll probably spend a bit of time on my Blaster as well.

Anyone still playing this?..if not is it possible to buy it off you..I mean how does that work can you sell the whole account or do I have to buy the game new? Its just that I have tried EB, Games Warehouse and Games market and it seems to have vanished or on a pretty long (4 weeks) backorder list.

:(

If you can sell the game and I can create a new account drop me a line as I am interested in getting this for my (and me ) son to try out.

cheers.

Yeh i tried the 'online' purchase option but after going thru all the steps to create and account it tells me that this 'feature' isn't available in your area?

go figure...I thought the internet was everybody's area! :)

Yeah, it was really fun while it lasted, but it got stale kinda fast. That was a while ago though, I haven't been keeping up to date with all the content and features they've added since then.

Prolly wouldn't mind giving it a bash again once the City of Villians expansion comes out.

Also Psycho, try DVD Box Office. I've bought a few things off them in the past, good service and a nice exchange rate since they use Canadian dollars. They seem to have the CD version and the DVD version in stock.

CoH was cool for about 10 minutes, until you realise every mission is nigh on identical, and the enemies were VERY boring and practically identical.

Also, yes, I have it here, boxed as new and you can buy it (you'd just have to put game time on it).

Ok, found the box, has all manuals etc.

I'll see if I can find my digi-cam and grab pics of it if you really want - CD's are like new.
Box in top right corner has a little fray in the corner - it came like that from shipping.

You can catch me on MSN on Loki.ii @ gmail . com - Southside of Bris, can collect it any hour of the day, or if you're far northside, I'm at Kelvin Grove on Tuesday for uni.

[edit] Like Khel said, CoV expansion would probably make it 100x cooler game, which should be due out soon.

Loki you obviously didn't play very far. The enemies get way better. Plus a new feature update is being released soon. The Arena, a big arena for PvP action! Already on the test server and is awesome. There is big supergroup matches allowing up to 70v70 or something like that.

leveling was slow, and boring, questing was boring, i can stomach slow leveling when the questing is decent, there is hardly any fashion of tradeskills... which makes a pointless econmy. the sidekick feature is awesome however again its nothing when questing and leveling is just plain old boring. as far as the enemys getting interesting.. sure they do but they are still the same .. so what if they fly around and have different attacks... its still boring just grinding and grinding away.. for what? the end game is boring as hell so its not like there is anything to get excited about there.

i gave up just before they implemented capes.. and that wasnt enough to keep me excited.

fact is its a game with no content. i love the fact that with any other mmorpg i have a reason to grind wether it be to complete a large quest or to farm for rare unique items.. city of heros doesnt have this...

thus its the sucky..

pvp will be nice but its still nothing if you prefer to have a balance of pvp/decnet pve

That is very true groydis. They are going to be implementing something eventually like tradeskill or something. Not exactly sure.

theres no armor...

so you dont pick up items to wear.

theres no weapons

so theres no items to pick up weapon wise

you have those abilitys.. which honestly.. by themselves are so common that its kind of stupid.

tradeskills.. what will they do.. when you cant wear armor or fight with weapons..

the concept of city of heros is fantastic... but it has been implemented poorly alot and i mean alot of work needs to be done to make it an interesting game that would actually hold someones interest.

Thanks guys, its really for my boy to play, he wont mind too much about the finer faults in the game etc..he just wants to play a super hero game ect..so if I buy it from one of you guys I just enter the cd key into the plaync acccount I created and can create a new profile for him or will he be bound to use the account and details already associated with your original key/account stuff? Im not real sure how it works ect..

Loki can you mail me mate

dwegner@internode.on.net

cheers (Tuesday at Kelvin Grove sounds doable at this point in time.)

p.s Khel if I went for the new option from DVD box office what type of timeframe do they take to get the item to you?

Yeah you have to use his account name and pw. But I wouldn't see a real problem with that.

yeah i believe you would have to use the accnt name and password, which you can change :) along with any other details.

its perfect for a child or someone new to the genre, its really simple and easy to use, infact the reason i believe it did so well was because it got that younger auidence.

here i was saying a heap of negatives about it and i forgot all the positive things. has fun costumes and great character customization as far as appearance goes, simple and easy to use, sidekick system so you can play wiht your buddy who is on 24hrs a day and 20levels above you. and awesome super hero fun.

It was my first mmo :D Also with the new update you'll be able to customize the appearance of your character even more. Being able to change facial and body structure. They're also adding some more costume options. Its great and all... but they should work more on the things the game is lacking...

Yeah, the character builder was awesome, best character building in a mmorpg hands down. I spent hours just making new characters I was never even going to play cos it was so much fun :P

p.s Khel if I went for the new option from DVD box office what type of timeframe do they take to get the item to you?

If you get their express delivery, its 3 to 5 days, but that costs extra, $15 canadian from memory. Air freight, is free to anywhere in the world from DVD Box Office, takes about 7 to 10.
