Five thumbs up on this movie. Do not walk past it in the video shop. Best australian comedy to date.

Crackerjack is a great movie. Some other funny ones to get out are The Club and The Odd Angry Shot. Classic Australian cinema at it's best. Also watch Paperback Hero as well because Hugh Jackman is in it and he rocks hard.

15 minutes of it and I couldn't restrain my hand from pressing the eject button on the VCR.

I'm with Suhaib. The only decent Australian film I can recall is The Dish

I loved Crackerjack, Mick Molloy was brilliant.

If hiring the DVD, play the movie again but with the production commentary. It's Mick and Judith Lucy getting ever so more pissed as the movie goes on.

Commentray snips.

"Hey Jude while your up, grab me another one"
"You've already got two you pisshead"
"Yeah but I don't want to get up when these are done"
"Isn't this bloody movie finished yet?"
"What do real commentaries talk about?"
"30 minutes to go, s***! grab me another beer"
"AH! you spilled it! it's all over the floor!"

Chopper, Mad Max, Gallipolie, Two Hands, thats just off the top of my head but there is a s*** load of good aussie films out there. Thats why we have a bunch of famous actors, they all got their start in good ol' aussie cinema

"Look at Mick over there, nursing two beers"

Deadset, This country has become soamericanised, they can't even comprehed classic humour. Well Molloy may noy be 'classic' (his ch. 9 show was partly cancelled because every episode, they just got drunk and in the end he pissed on set.) But Micallef is brilliant, as is Tony Martin. View Crackerjack if for no other reason, just to hear Tony Martin's commentary at the final bowls comp.

And Dirty Deeds from a technical standpoint was a totally brilliant movie.

There are tonnes of good Aussie film, maybe if we added some scenes including an overuse of special effects they would appeal to you more

(You probably don't know, but other than being filmed here, the Matrix films are half Australian (Village Roadshow).

You must rewalise that Aust. films can't afford budgets like American films, with the two recent films by Martin and Molloy struggling to make $4M box office, what with people sooner going in to see s*** like Spiderman and Charlies Angels.

But don't get me wrong, Australian films can be s*** (Danny Deckchair. The preview would make people go away from it) but there are MANY classics out there. So go and see the Honoourable Wally Norman (?) when it comes out in a short while.

I never liked the original Mad Max film. Also still wonder why it's got the R rating today as well, it's not like it's extremely violent. Maybe it costs too much to have a film re-classified or something...

I didn't really like Crackerjack. Probably because I'm not a huge fan of Mick, but I just found it...... boring.

The Castle on the other hand is great :)

I really should see the dish.
