Wow, its been a fun one. The new version of CS brought about much slaw of the QGL network as thousands of gamers around the world tried to grab it from us - we had it mirrored pretty much instantly thanks to some fast footwork by Nats and the CS guys.

The downloads counter for it isn't right at the moment - but judging from the quick look I had, we've served over 3500 requests for the patch file alone. Phwoar. Rather impressive stuff, I think anyway. So, sorry if you had a few problems getting through to use, but that's why.

and all those downloaders promptly installed and eagerly played only to find it was a gay gay gay release, oh well life goes on

Seems that with every release of CS more and more newbies come into it (I use the term newbies for new player, not crap). Started with beta 4, still going I guess. The newbies I mean.

I've been playing since beta 1. And I'm still crap at times. Lol.

Cyph sometimes(if your unlucky)you'll run into a server full of players that realy know their s*** and if your like me you spend the next week picking the led out of your arse.This seems to happen to me on a daily basis,I like newbies at least while they're playing I've got someone to kill.

By the way what server's do you play on I don't think I have ever run into you?????

Im generally all over the place, I dont ever bother trying to get onto the QGL servers at all, I can be found at the FV server every now and then, also at some of the iPGN servers, but it can be hard to get in there with their 'reserved' spots because they use that admin mod.

They blocked swearing on them, and they consider the word 'idiot' a swear word. Lol.

If you've got server query open, generally just look for a [-DDS-]Tanith. Felt like a new name, and Tanith seems like a better name then Cyph anyway. Heheh.

Pity CS is practically DM now, personally I'm beginning to like q3 now. Been playing CS for over a year and a half, gets a bit tiring after a while.

Anyway, off to study for my A+ exams that are in 10 days. Scary thought that.

QGL's FTP server is slower than a monoplegic snail when popular releases come out - sad but true.

I use Aarnet's mirror - 1 Mbyte/sec from work - I sucked down the full install in about 80 seconds :)

My take on CS 1.0:
Please note that I played for about two or two and a half hours before writing this.

The models. Well, I wish I could say they looked great…but…No. Gooseman does a far better job. They follow the same “wrinkly” style as TFC. Yes, sometimes wrinkles can make clothes look more realistic, but not to the extent that it looks like we’ve got shriveled skin. The torsos and arms (with the exception of the Arab, he looks like a stick) are disproportionate to the rest of their body. Unless of course, all CTs and Ts are bodybuilders.

The VIP looks like he’s wearing eyeliner. He also looks like a body builder. Since when were corporate executives body builders? I thought the VIP was supposed to look scared…

The GIGN (or is it GSG9? Apparently both have helmets now) looks like he’s got a helmet that’s two sizes too big for him. He also looks like he’s wearing a black diaper.

The Arab is pasty white. Since when was the last time you saw an Arab that was pasty white? He also looks scrawny. He reminds me of Bill Gates. Not a good thing.

The SEAL looks like a linebacker. I had originally complained about the helmet when Gooseman did it, but now it looks even worse.

The SAS…well, I thought his bug suit looked ugly the first time around. Boy was I wrong. His head looks like it was deflated and the reinflated improperly.

I can’t tell which one is GSG9 or which one is GIGN anymore, but one of them has a big helmet. Really big.

Arctic Joe. What is he gonna do now? You can’t just replace a snow white Armani with some second rate camouflage jacket (btw this is called humor, everyone knows Arctic Joe loves his snow white jacket). And why do all the terrorists try to look mean? All it does it make them look like they have an extremely urgent need to take a piss or crap.

To sum the models up in one word? Fugly.

The animations have good and bad points. I think the majority of the new reload animations (some of them look quirky) are good. I also like the new bomb planting animations. However, a lot of them are just…wrong. Many of the models hold the rifles with their wrists bent out, instead of cupping the front grip normally. Yeah, it looks cool when the model tilts his head to fire, but that shouldn’t happen. It’s bad shooting form. If you’re doing that when you shoot, you should adjust your arm position to line up with your head when it’s straight. The exaggerated high angle on the elbow is wrong. If you shoot like that, not only will you tire more quickly, but your elbow will have a tendency to smack up against things (it’s a lot easier to get through a doorway without sticking your elbow out, pretending you’re a chicken). When they crouch, they look like they’re about to take a crap. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t hold that position for a good amount of time. The running animations are pure crap. I don’t even have words to describe it.

I feel sorry for Gooseman; he spent so much time redoing the animations for Beta 7, and now look what replaces them. Same thing goes with the new SEAL model; you had to admit that the Beta 7 one was pretty good. Now, it looks like crap.

Hey, at least they didn’t change the hostages.

I’ll comment on the guns later, I didn’t buy them enough.
