I saw this movie tonight, and I'd have to say I was equally impressed and perplexed. Its a really intriguing movie which I'm seriously considering seeing a second time(which I do rarely) just to pick up every little bit.

The general story, set in 1988, follows Donnie, a guy that seems as regular as a high school kid could be apart from his "emotional problems" and the fact he has hallucinations of a human sized bunny, basically the bunny informs him of certain things.. which are all very odd, but as the story unfolds it has to be considered is the bunny giving these for a reason? or is it just some loony kid's hallucinations going to extremes?

The movie in general is simply.. unique, in a way it could almost be considered partially tear jerker, partially comedy/sci fi.. and overall incredibly surreal.

Anyone that thinks they can take one
(as my friend put it) "Complete mindfark" should see this movie, or even if you don't want to look deeply into it, go just to see the sometimes subtle, sometimes blatant jokes about the 80s..

Summing it all up, I personally think the director has really made something not usual for this day and age, a good, original movie, some may say that because it is so different it ruins it, but I think it just gives it something more. If you were considering on seeing this, I strongly suggest do, its worth the cash you pay.. and I'll probably be there still scratching my head about the entire thing :D

Mind if I ask what particular cinema you saw it at? I can't seem to find any Brisbane cinemas showing it...
