Well heres the story so far
3 weeks ago when i woke up i went down stairs and turned my pc on the computer just beeps at me so i made sure the ram was seated properly still doing it so i checked the beep codes and low and behold it was telling me that my 8 month old leadtek gforce 2 32 meg ddr is not being found !!!!. so i took it back to sunlit at cooparoo and the said they would send it to the tech who tests theses things an when they get a R.A they would replace the card..

Now i get a phone call saying that the card has been overclocked and they have voided my warranty .... i have never overclocked this card how do i prove that point . All my pc stuff is surge protected and i am at a loss to explain all i did was start my pc up nothing else.....
$600 agp down the drain (((((( no more pc s*** for me for a while

stay away from sunlit as they are major s***kuntz

Well you can't really prove that you didn't - so I guess your stuffed. :/

Sounds to me like they are trying to worm their way out of doing what they should. If all else fails just stand outside their store telling people not to go in and why. :)

you're right, sunlit do suck dick. my friends have bought stuff from them, and they're s***. i don't know how you can prove it, so do what hunter said, and slander the bastards until they fix your card :)

you cant prove that you didnt overclock it, but they cant prove you did either, so dont take that s*** from you... they have to give you a replacement card..

threaten to take it to the small claims tribunal or something.. $600 is alot to lose on a video card :(

do what i did and take them to the department of fair trading, btw the case is still going on over my burner, i put it in on the 5th of december and now it is ... 21st of feburary and still don't have it, at least i have a "loan" 8x ide burner opposed to my 8x scsi which means that no zip drive connected fro a while :(.

oat. sunlit are some of the dodgiest kunts around.

don't take s*** from them. from what i know of video card o/c most of it is done by software. and the only way they woudl knwo is if u sent them ur whole comp. and had left teh o/c function on.

so ti's not gonna be set on the video card anywhere. which means hey have no proof of it. (as far as my knowledge goes)

Sunlit are the *dodgiest* techs around

Don't ever f***ing give them anything for repairs.

I won't say too much more but i know for a fact your card will be resold as new.

I heard some many bad things about Sunlit.I was at Primals place about a month ago and he was bliuding a new pc,he bought a brand new keyboard from sunlit only to find out that it was marked for repair,it had a little note inside the box saying that a few of the keys didn't work.f***ing dodgy pricks.

I also have another mate that I work with who spent almost $7000 on a pc from them it has everything. He's had it for almost a yr and has only had it at home for 6 months because it's always getting fixed. The last time it sat in their shop for 3 weeks only to have them ring him saying that there was nothing wrong with it,he then rang back later and was tolled that they hadn't even looked at it.

Sunlit a seriously f***ed up and seem to have NFI.

wonder if any of them are actually qualified to do their job.

hell, if they arent, they just f*** your warranty over by servicing the comp.

There;s a guy that works at the one at Toowong, all he does all day is watch DVD's on the comps.

IF u want a decent comp, go to Queensland computer group at South Brisbane. They seem to be cool.
And while u r there, check out their sweet cars!!!
one dude got a 200SX with like a 5inch exhaust with a 6inch tip!! fark. And the boss has a Nice yellow Supra!

nice cars, nice computers.

Beware of Queensland Computer Group as well. Apart from not caring if you are in the shop or not, they charge a restocking fee when you return or exchange an item. Both them and Sunlit got stung multiple times for sales tax evasion prior to the GST, so if they are prepared to rip off the tax office they'll have no problems with ripping off anyone else.

Oi dude I used to work for Sunlit take it back to them cause there is no proof and they can't test the card and say that it is overclocked if I were you I would ring consumer aid cause they are pricks don't let them get away with it...:)

man
im getting my comptuer from computeralliance
they were set up by the people who basically built concorde from the ground up
then their partners f***ed them over
so they started computeralliance
they have much better service and prices than concorde and sunlit
actually, sunlit are cheaper, but for the little extra you pay, it's worth going to someone else...
SUNLIT SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mos Tech are worthy of a thumbs up in my book.

Talking to Stuart is a comfort, as I know I'm not going to read the exact opposite to what he advises on some site 2 weeks after I've parted with my hard earned bucks.

If there's one thing that s***z me to tears it's non-gaming salespeople trying to sell me a part for my puter. Being able to recite stats off some webpage does not qualify someone to sell gaming hardware in my book. ie 99% of Sunlit staff I've ever encountered.

/me ends rant

Keep away from Cost Plus computers at Ikea springwood as well

they wanted to charge my dad $70 for a 10/100mbit network card.

when they asked what it was going to be plugged into, my dad said a 5 port 10/100 hub.

Sales guy went 'no such thing as a 10/100 hub'

amazing how many stores dont know their s*** at all.

unfortunately ive had 4 bad experiences with gamedude, although i did buy my gf2mx from them because it was in a sealed box where they couldnt wreck it or swap it for a dodgy one.

now i only need money to buy cg's hand me downs, cos they are all tried and true.

as for qcg i havent had any dramas with them but a mate of mine has had a bad run with them in the last 6 months...BUT... they did open up one day outside of thier normal trading hours for him when he had a problem. that was good service.

a long time ago i bought some ram from a small shop. the ram was dodgy i took it back and the guy there turned on my pc and almost shat himself when he saw a celeron 450. to my suprise he didnt know you could clock a c300a to 450. needless to say i never went back there.

Gamedude was where I got my first Video card from....Voodoo Banshee....and it was dodgy as hell....but they wouldnt even try it out to see and offer me a replacement so i traded it in ona TNT2....worked much better.

Computer Alliance are good tho if ya buy a system for it check the contents to make sure all the screws are there...the company i do some voluntary work for (read work for the dole) bought about 8 comps from computer alliance.....2 were missing screws (HDD held in by only 1 side....no screws in case at all) and one only had 64Mb of RAM when it was supposed to be 128Mb.....they replaced the RAM fast with an apology.

In short Computer Alliance good (good prices and quick to fix problems), Gamedude not so good.

i would recommend U-mart as milton as well, they treat u very well adn their online ordering system kicks arse, and also they have very very cheap prices.

I have had run in's with sunlit and atm i have an investigation with the dept. of fair trading to do with my cd burner which has been in for repairs for ... 4 months now.

But i really would recommend U-Mart at milton or C-Systems at aspley, they r both awesome and have great customer service.

Wouldnt like to say here Koopz. The issue was dealt with swiftly and I was impressed with the way Computer Alliance handled it. I just dont think that sorta stuff should happen in the first place...maybe i put too much pride in my work :).

if ya really wanna know contact me on ICQ (1838674)

When I worked for sunrit EVERY week I had 3-5 machines come in without CPU fans plugged in. Then I had machines with no HDD screwed down at all (HDD would fall out and dangle from cables) Graphics card that didnt have funs plugged in (They all die over summer when the ambient is up a little)

On one occasion a system came back the day it was purchased because the Leadtek GeForce2 MX was DOA, I saw A MANAGER replace it with a Chaintech GeForce 1 SDR worth approx. $150 less. He gave the PC back to the customer.

U-mart is just as bad as Sunrit.

Southern Leading Edge Computers @ Camp Hill although a little more expensive are VERY good

Hey Free, do you have CG's email addy? If so, can you please send it to me at trog@qgl.org? Thanks mano.

There is no way of checking you didn't clock the card. Take it directly to Leadtek or the supplier. Its this only way to deal with warranty s*** at Sunrit, 3 months for a HDD or video card to come back is far to long.

1 week out of warranty my puter from sunlit, which was hardly stuck together ie. no screws and no fan btw. decided to die on me. Took it to get fixed and the vid card was dead, ram was stuffed (2nd lot in the 12 month warranty) and my mobo was dead.. which was the 3rd one i have been through. oh yes i dearly love sunlit!

Yeh I bought a pc from tilnus a few years ago and it blew up 2 days before warranty ended. They knew it was a free upgrade for me and kept it for 2 months without a phone call to tell me what was going on and then say they arent going to fix it. Ended up going to small claims over it.

I hope you all take this as a valuable lessson: SUNLIT SUCK.
I know three people who bought comps from Sunlit, all stuffed later... To further my case you might be interested to know they've been indited for tax fraud twice, and are under investigation for overclocking RAM and CPUs prior to selling them as higher performance componenets... They're pretty cheap though...

Trog - I so agree. Everytime my comp screws with me, I think 'goddamnit. Why the f*** do I bother?'
As someone once said to me though, 'They are pretty damn cool when they work'.
Says it all really. :)
BTW, does anyone buy comp parts over the internet?
