I am not far away from buying a new TV because my old 68cm NEC has just died.Anyway I want something that I came play movies from my PC on with a pretty high level of quality but I wouldn\'t even know whats out there or even where to start looking.

Now if I was to get a digital TV I would obviously be spending alot of cash in that case so if possible I\'d like to get something that I can play my movies on.

Any info would be great thanx guy\'s

By digital do you mean High Definition???

Id personally recomend any of the Sony Trinitron range. All have superb image quality, connectivity options, and sound. They also pack a hefty price tag.

But if your wanting the best, you have to pay for it.

get a Loewe, they rock!!! I got one with a AGP card as an extra, plus they have all the best fetures. But they are pricy. There\'s a shop that carries heaps of them in the city. it\'s next to Dicks smiths and across the road from McDonalds.

always ask for crippled stock
eg. my friend bought a sony 51 cm trinitron for $600 marked down from $900, just because it had a scratch at the top of the actually TV not the screen you can barely notice it and $300 off!

Loewe are one of the best.

Just think of it in car terms, sure the Japanese make some good cars, but the Europeans make better ones.

That goes for a lot of products on the market, another example would be kitchen appliences, Blanco, Smeg etc etc.

If you can afford it buy European. :)

Leowe is good. But very expensive.

My uncle bought a relatively small one for 5 grand. But it had all these cool little computer options and s*** :D

You might also want to hold off on Digital HDTV. I was reading an article about the MPAA pushing to change the standard again. So you could be spending a lot of money to get something "futureproof" that is not in fact future proof. The problem is apparently, the new standard they're pushing won't allow set top boxes to be used with the TVs. So maybe just buy a high end standard TV.

And what sort of video card have you got? The TV out quality of that will have a huge effect. As I understand it you wouldn't really benefit from having a HDTV depending on which card you're using anyway. Oh, and I believe you can use a TV with composite jacks. You just need to buy an s-video to composite converter.

Stereo Supplies is the place which sells Loewe TVs. They are probably the best TVs you can buy, period. I know a fella in Melbourne who is a home theater nut ($10000 worth of DVDs, Audio gear worth probably near $20000, etc), has a Loewe TV. He says they are the best. I believe him.
