Hmm speaking of warcraft 3 mods... just remembered that i have been playing alot of the SC2 mods some of those TDs are really good. Dungeon Defenders looks pretty good as well might give it a try

I hate tower defense games where the creeps attack your towers, it starts to delve too much into the realm of an actual rts game then and you have to micromanage too much stuff.

I like the tower defense games where its like you setup all your towers, and then a wave of dudes come through and you get to see how successful your arrangement of towers was. Its like the incredible machine or bridge builder or something, setup your maze of towers, run the wave of dudes through it and see how your creation fares. I don't like it when I have to start managing my towers on a more micro level.

Some basic geometry one on iPod Touch - I think it's the only app I've paid for on iTunes. Awesome fun (can't remember the name, been ages since I played it).

Kingdom Rush is a pretty good Flash/Phone app one.

I Agree with you there I hate tower defense games where the mobs attack your structures but i also like to have the option to take an active roll in the fight. One of the things that i love about Orcs Must Die is that you can have all the structures possible in the game but if you don't take an active role in some parts you will still get face rolled by some of the mobs.

Vector TD kicked all sorts of ass back in the day. We had some threads here sharing strategies a few years ago.

I've probably spent most time on PixelJunk Monsters for PS3 but not for a while, it's an easy TD game to pick up which is great if you want a second player to jump in that hasn't played much TD.

For PC, (apart from War3 TD), Defense Grid is really good but completely let down by the fact it's single player only. Another TD game I've come across recently is a three dimensional TD game called Terrorhedron and that supports 8 player co-op, I've had a couple awesome lan sessions with this game so far.

What I am really curious about is which version of TD do you guys like the best? The ones where you sit back and watch your towers crush the oncoming mobs. or the ones where you are standing side by side with your structures lending support with your own arsenal of death.

I like Defense Grid and Anomaly (though Anomaly is actually reverse Tower Defense).

Elemental TD for WC3 (mod). Nothing has come close to how awesome it is.

On the other hand, the best Tower Offense game I've played is Anomaly Warzone Earth

We played many many hours :P .... Lurker Defence back in SC :P ... played a heap of DD it is pretty fun.

We have also been playing a bit of Mineralz in SC2.

I used to play Starcraft TD heaps with a mate, that was good fun. On my iPhone my favourite is Lord of the Rings Defense for Middle Earth.. cos it's Lord of the Rings.
