this place was funny as hell:

http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/1796/61144564.jpg

It was this abandoned resort on one of the smaller Greek Islands. We did a stop over on the island for a day and went for a cruise around. Apparently it was a huge scam and the company in charge didn't pay any of the labourers so they came back and looted the place. Even had this fake beach near the ocean where the company was dumping like 200,000 euros worth of beach sand there every month and the water was washing it away. Epic fail

some decent photos from my trip to europe in 2006.

taken atop Jungfraujoch in Switzerland

ancient Roman porn in Pompeii. Actually paintings like this were displayed above the doors to each room in the brothels. they depict the sex act the girl in the room would perform. guess this one was doggy style. also the beds and pillows were made of stone.

roof of the Sistine Chapel. youre not supposed to take photos but i secretly took one. i think thats my nose at the bottom of the photo

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1185/romee.jpg

saint peter the apostles crypt under the basilica in the vatican. my friend and i pretended to be with a private tour group and sneaked into the crypts without paying. the flash kinda ruins it :(

just a random photo showing how f***ing flat the netherlands is

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3880/netherlandsi.jpg

venice from the top of the clock tower. it rained and it flooded like crazy. there are some elevated platforms to walk on for when it does flood, but most of the time i was walking through water.

well the couple of swiss people i spoke to new english. not sure how the rest of the country fairs though. its probably because they lived in a tourist hotspot that they were so good at english. all i know is they mainly speak german and french.

For the Niagara photo, I just used one of the blue raincoats to cover the camera and then reset the white balance.

I have heaps more photos on my laptop, Washington DC, space shuttle launch, Disney World, Blue ridge mountains, Vegas.

I end up going to America all the time because it's too easy, I have family over there, it's cheap, and they speak english. I've been to all except 6 states. I'm considering driving from Texas to Alaska next year (really want to see an aurora), but I think I need to challenge myself and do europe instead.

Arg.. how to say this without sounding like a troll..

I couldn't imagine anything more boring then going to all those places.

If I've seen a picture of a pyramid in Egypt... that's just as good as actually being there for me. Just without having the diarrhea, expenses and other crap you have to put up with when making a lot of these trips.

I've seen the world... through a computer/tv screen, and I'm completely content I'm missing out on nothing by seeing it that way.

I used to think that too, gamer, but actually getting to these places is so different. To quote Good Will Hunting, "... you can't tell me what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel." I've been to the Sistine Chapel, and I can't tell you either :) BUT, the point is, there is a massive difference between seeing something on a screen and actually being there IRL. And it's addictive too...

I don't blame gamer for thinking that way because some of the photos in this thread don't really show the awesomeness of some of the places. Some of Furgle's pix are amazing. The falls and the museum pix are amazing!

The best part of travelling is the culture, food and people. You are right to think that sight seeing is boring (IMO) but it gives you something to do each day. Its not like you can get up each morning and go "im going to eat and talk to the locals all day". Also, in the 40 different sights on a trip, there usually is one that is more than just seeing a building/statue, there is a history. Hiroshima a-bomb dome is a good example.

Pic related. You will never be able to stand in one of the only places in the world where an A-bomb went off.

'the food and culture' is the same s*** i hear every time i speak to someone who has wasted thousand and thousands of dollars and time bludging around the world.

I've been f***tonnes of places around the world and I can say no matter what food, it always comes out the same and there is legends and wankers anywhere you go.

After all the places and s*** ive seen around the world I still beleive, once you see it in pictures, movies, documentaries and hear about facts retold by others or in documentaries etc, you've got most of it coverd.

And for free without risking your health, wasting your time or putting yourself in financial debt for it.

you've seen it, but you havent experienced it. the smells, the sounds, the people just make it so much better than just looking at a photo on a computer.

i loathe travelling but the places i saw and the people i met put that right out of my mind.

I make an effort wherever I got to try as many different local beers and visit as many breweries as I can, large or boutique ones...especially in Germany. I'm actually pretty sad with it really, I take photos of every one and I found beer coasters make a good free souvenir.

Nice snaps! Switzerland the garden of eden of europe. It's also suprising how much s*** can fit into America.

gamer, I think you'll find it not so much seeing the sights but also experiencing the culture, drinkin beers with the locals, food, women, lifestyle/party.. the whole thing.. and to be honest looking at a photo of something and actually seeing it up close and personal can be very different.

Prague is a great holiday destination. The Aussie dollar converts really nicely. Well it did when I was there, not sure if it has switched to the Euro. MMM steins of highend Pilsners for about 80cents au.

Nah, they still use crowns not Euros. Getting more expensive by the day though and tourist-city. Definitely worth a visit.

Completely disagree. All people do is waiste time, money and earth's resources jet setting around the globe and constantly fall back on the 'food/culture' bs.

Every time i get convinced to goto some f***ing country on a holiday it's always the same, exactly the same s*** I've seen in documentaries and other media (had imagined) is exactly how it ends up being, only now i've wasted a bunch of money and time.

Actually I would argue that there are various things that you can actually get more experience from on TV documentary then visiting it yourself, since very rarely is the general public allowed up close and personal with alot of historic stuff now.

I've toured Australia, America, England, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, New Zeland, South-America, Canada and 1-3 day stopovers in tonnes of other countries.

All (except for most of the stuff I've done around Australia) of them I've ended up feeling that they were a complete and utter waste of time after the memories fade in 1-2 years time and you think of how much better that money could have been spent setting up an early retirement or by pouring back into the business or another business etc.

Nice waste of earths resources, money and time though... good way to bludge away your life and pretend your doing something beneficial when your really just unable to commit, take risk etc. Most backpackers I've met have been the same.

It's go to to see some of you have spent alot of time looking around Australia before going else ware. kudos to those of you who chose Australia first.

arent you just an angry and bitter person, I had a blast every place i went, met the locals, ate awesome food i would have never eaten here, made friends overseas, actually seen in real life views you see on tv, experienced the energy that was there.

You cant get that from tv.

I mean docos are good and cover alot of s*** but you dont get the personal interaction with people and the smells and energy of the locals

Im extremely happy i got to walk around machu pichu because next yr i think they arent letting public walk around and through it.

Thats a memory that i will have that no-one from next yr wil be able to experience. And no doco, movie, tv show has come anything close to how amazing machu pichu was.

travelling, camping, backpacking etc... are just as much about forming awesome memories as the touch of culture & the experience imo. i will never forget elements of my overseas travels... will you remember the night you looked at some images of other countries on the internet? no. coz without the effort it's not memorable. i love kicking back with the mate i went to india with & re-living the experiences... asif that's gonna happen if you just had a mate come round your house n looks at some pics n vids on the intertoobs. if your holiday memories are fading after one or two years you have been doing it wrong.

unfortunately all my india / malaysia / singapore / china hols were back when i used a film camera & i currently have no webspace to upload my recent nz holiday pics. so just imagine some cool pics... it;s just as good as long as you have a half decent imagination (lols) ;)

Yep, saw alot of Australia first.. got bored of the same terrain and people, and ventured overseas for a breath of fresh air. Totally hooked on the travel thing, plan to ride a motorcycle around the world with my girlfriend in a few years.

Its really a shame you seem to be unable to get the same thrill alot of people get from travelling. Sure, its a waste of earth's resources. But f*** it, enjoy the life you've been lucky enough to have been given, and the world is going to be dead in a few billion years anyway, so why not live it up now?

There is a part of one of my trips to Europe that I unfortunately did not get a photo of and that was flying over the Himalayans during the day time. The mountain ranges top out around 20,000 ft while the plane is up about 35,000. To look down and see the mountain range so close, vast and sprawling was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen and the sensation is unbeatable*

Very awesome seeing all these pics, makes me wanna get out some more. gamer's attitude really saddens me - for his sake. I love travelling so much, for so many different reasons, and I get so much fun out of it. I think it's sad that he isn't able to get that. But it's good to see everyone else seems to love it too!

I don't have many photos on my laptop, but I thought I'd share a few.

It's awesome to see so many people have seen Australia as well. It always seems so stupid that people are willing to fly across the world, but they won't see all the amazing stuff in their own country. I've seen a lot, but I still need to get to WA (and possibly Darwin).

Also, that Kolner Dom photo is amazing - my attempts didn't come close!

Big rant for gamer, because I haven't been able to stop thinking about what he said, and this s*** is important to me right now.

that money could have been spent setting up an early retirement or by pouring back into the business or another business etc.

It's interesting that you think about it from the perspective of working and costs, balancing it against the desire to escape the rat race and finding it wanting. It got me thinking more clearly about this topic, and I think you're right.

I had one of the best nights I've had in ages last night with some old school friends, who are quite a way aways from my "professional" higher education friends (who I love very dearly, just a disclaimer), and are not a part of society I generally interact with any more (none of them have a steady career and all have been working multiple lowest-level jobs since their teens. Generally just trying to get by in life. The notion of investments or holidays or ever owning their own homes are just lols).

One of them had just travelled half the world to go to Scotland with his girlfriend, and I asked seriously if he would now say that it's the kind of thing that once you've experienced, you can never stop doing. If it's something you're missing out on if you don't do as much as possible.

His answer was a blunt f*** no, massive drain of time and money, if you haven't done it you're not missing out on much. This guy is generally never negative, so it was interesting that he made that response, because it seems so many people (eg generally quite well off higher-education friends or some posters on this board) would decry that as some sort of tragically depressing statement.

It's funny because I had this exact same argument with some friends a few years back (that you're making, that travel is nearly always only justified by bs reasons and that you can learn more from a screen if that was your real intent). At the time I had never even considered travelling, it seemed like something you might do when you're old if you turn out really successful, and I got shredded for it. I've been antsy about the topic ever since, fretting over what I've been missing while stuck in offices and at desks for years on end. Lately I've been wondering if now that I've finally got some cash from years of saving on s***ty salaries, if it would be worthwhile to burn it on travelling while there is the chance (despite not really feeling like I want to or that it will be truly worthwhile), or putting it into working harder and trying to start my own business. I was on the verge of committing to travelling this week.

Now I think about it, I don't know anybody who has worked for their way in the world who is into the travel thing. Nobody who pays for it out of their own sacrifice and still says it is worthwhile (or lectures, as was the case that got me all antsy about it in the first place) The more I think about it, the more it seems that the answer is f*** travelling if it means going backwards in the project of escaping a borderline-broke working life. I'd rather die trying to get the business off the ground, and only travel if I ever earn my way out of relying on other people's willingness to hire me for their own projects. That people say that arguments for not travelling and for saving for retirement are depressing, is, to me, depressing.

It would be interesting if anybody on here begs to differ though, as maybe there's a ton of people who work for every cent and still feel screwing your future and travelling instead is more worthwhile. Me, I couldn't live with the stress, knowing what I'd come back to. Then again I can never let myself get into debt, and some people don't mind at all. Anyway, antsy topic cleared, resolved is good.

I feel I've worked my ass off for every cent I've earned, and the only thing I care about doing with it is traveling (and to a lesser extent buying books, but mostly traveling).

There's nothing else I've spent money on that I feel has come close to the experiences I've had traveling, and I say that as someone that used to 100% believe that you could experience traveling through "Virtual Reality" (I still feel that there's a lot you can get out of VR, looking at photos and watching TV, but nothing compares to being in these places).

I have been really fortunate in that I've been able to travel many times with friends which has made the experience much more enjoyable - I have traveled a lot solo as well but am far too lazy to interact with strangers most of the time, so it's always a bazillion more funium when I'm with other people I know.

But, I can understand people that don't enjoy it or get much out of it, like your mate that went to Scotland. It only takes one bad experience to sour people on traveling in general - and not even a bad experience, just a less-than-awesome experience will have you going "well f***, I dropped five grand to fly halfway around the planet, I'm freezing my balls off, they don't have Vegemite, no-one speaks English, this country is full of felons, their beaches are made of actual stone and rocks and they think that is a pleasant seaside envrionment, and a beer at a bar costs twenty dollars".

I wouldn't necessarily say "go traveling, you will have an awesome time". But I think without travel and without experiencing other cultures and environments first hand, you are seriously missing out on something that I strongly feel would help everyone become a more well rounded human bean.

I have worked in a few s***ty jobs over the years, and spent heaps of time at uni, and I can definitively say for myself that the life experiences and knowledge gained from just a week’s travelling can easily trump a year of wasting away at a s***ty job or studying a useless course.

Open your mind! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO1kKemcwYk

Every dollar that is not spent travelling is a wasted dollar, f*** I need to get my holiday on. That being said though, there is a right time and a place for an awesome holiday, you can't just force it and expect to get good value for money.

most of the people I know who travel a lot work damn hard to be able to do so - doesn't just fall in their lap like you seem to think.

i want to travel more, and i struggle to save the cash to able to do so, but i do so because of the same reasons everyone else has stated, it's just so bloody interesting and enjoyable. last trip was a couple of years ago now, to Vietnam, and it was awesome, bloody loved it.

next stop - north africa!

How do you join the dots between travelling and screwing your future?

I differ greatly on your point of view and have spend a huge amount of money going to tonnes of places around Australia and overseas and wouldn't ever want to stop doing it. This doesn't automatically make my future screwed - in fact I've never had a more secure future before and I'm about to plan another trip to Europe for April/May next year (take my first child to see my family in Ireland and then go visit the Scandinavian countries).

I once got told by a very smart person that "Life is not a rehearsal, you won't get another chance so make the most of what you have!". You could walk out on the street going to buy a coffee and get hit by a car and end up a vege. All the plans for the future and security would be gone up in a wisp of smoke and while you contemplate staring at the ceiling in the hospital for the rest of your days the thought of going on a holiday to Kodak beach would probably be an amazing experience.

I can understand that some people might not like travel - hell, we all know everyone likes different things! But being able to travel so much has certainly widened my horizons. I honestly feel like I now have a better understanding of the world, and it has improved my biases and isms.

Plus it's frikkin awesome :D

yeh going on a overseas holiday for a couple of weeks is hardly going to 'screw your future' :p my 7 weeks in india was incredibly cheap... i think i only spent about $4k including air-fares. if you've never done it... don't rely on advice from other people on whether you should or not.... just do it n make up your own mind.

(edit) i will just add that the first week or so i was in india i really felt like i'd made a bad choice.... flew into calcutta (or kolkatta, woteva) & it was depressingly third world with thousands of beggars & stench & smoke & noise & stench.... kinda smelt like curried cow poop ;p 2nd day i got sick from drinking local water n had 2 days of the squirts :( but i stuck it out with the help of the mate i went with & ended up having a pretty phat time overall. some great memories of burling along on rented royal enfield motorcycles on the east coast beaches :D

so yeh it's not always gonna be beer n skittles... gotta take the bad with the good.

I just realised my complete and utter lack of photos for all my travels... Might have something to do with the fact I dont have a Camera.

Love looking at photos, but generally dont like being in them or the chore of taking them.
Great scenery pics though guys. This thread has made me remember some awesome times i've had.

As for the 2 discussions;
To travel or not to travel; I love travelling. Being free, seeing and experencing new cultures, meeting new people. It's a great Experence. I dont think it's for everyone however I think that everyone should give it a go because if it is for them, not much can top it.

Overseas or Australia:
I've seen heaps, Heaps, of Australia. Been camping around most of NSW, QLD and VIC. I've seen/camped at almost the entire Eastern cost. 4WD trip to Cape York, twice. Undara Lave Tubes. Crossed the Simpson Desert. Done Uluru. Skied the Snowy Mountains. Drove the Great Ocean road. This November i'm going to get lost in the Victorian Highlands for a month of camping/4WDing.
I've havent done as much as I would like overseas yet though. I've only spent just over 2 months in Europe. Saw most of the western block in a whirlwind tour. Hired a car to put around Ireland and most of southern England/Wales. Cruised around the Greek Islands, was on Gallipoli beach for ANZAC day. I've had a Few short weeks in NZ. Some time spend in Vanuautu etc.

There are still heaps of places, both here and overseas, that I think would be awesome to see. Cave Diving in Cancun, The Inca Ruins, The Savanah in Africa, Heaps of places in America. Kakadu in Australia, Driving the Great Australian Bite, Tasmania, Sink Hole/Cave diving in SA, Kimberleys in WA...

They're both awesome. It would be a shame for people to miss-out on the vast beauty of Australia just because Overseas seems more exotic or as if it's a 'greater' destination. However, with that said, there is awesome history in the older nations, something which we simply dont have in Australia. Sure, we have cave paintings, and thats cool, but when you first arrive in Athens, and they have entire buildings dedicated to their gods 3000 years ago, right in the middle of their capitol city... it's awesome.

P.s. I like photos of things/scenery. Dont like that 'Hey look at me in this photo, I can now prove i've been here' people. You should travel for yourself, not to show other people how awesome you are that you travel. I'm not really one for photos though, so I know i'm somewhat bias on that point.

It's awesome to see so many people have seen Australia as well. It always seems so stupid that people are willing to fly across the world, but they won't see all the amazing stuff in their own country. I've seen a lot, but I still need to get to WA (and possibly Darwin

I've seen a bit of Australia mainly the main cities but not Ayres Rock and I don't really remember seeing the Whitsundays when I was young. The way I see it is that I can save the Australian site seeing for when I'm older and have done my worldly travelling, I can just make smaller/cheaper trips while I plug away at my mortgage.

There is mountains and beautiful scenery out west too. Some of the best things i've seen in Aus are in the middle of the Simpson Desert. Like The Bubbler and the Mountain/Hill just outside Birdsville at sunset.

The Bubbler is this massive fresh water spring in the middle of nothing. Just heaps and heaps of fresh, crystal clear, water bubbling up out of the ground. Flat landscape all around and the water has caused a buildup that looks like a green pimple on the earth. If you google "The Bubbler Blanche Cup" or just for the Blanche Cup, you can see some pics in Google Image search.

all you travelers should go see the closest natural wonder of the world - any part of the great barrier reef.

hate to break it to you gamer, but when you see this you realise why pictures and info is no where near the same as being in the water, surrounded by sharks, or manta/eagle rays or seeing giant turtles, and fish close enough to touch (i pulled a sharks tail, thats right, pulled)

Dived off Cairns for ~3 weeks (total), Whit Sundays for a few days and I only somewhat agree. Some Pictures can do justice for what you can see, but nothing can replace the feeling.
Giant Clams are the best, especially when you trick Muppets into thinking you get your arm stuck when they close up on you.

i can remember once when i was out surfing and i saw a fin just behind an incoming wave, f*** me i have never seen so many ppl get out of the water so quick. Only to find out it was a dolphin hahaha

still its better to be safe than not have a leg or ur life.

Ive been diving aswell, didnt even think sharks would come near the reef i was in fiji :P Diving is awesome tho, nothing beats it if u like sea life.

being scared of sharks is silly. You'd have more chance of dying in a car crash tomorrow than being taken by one on a diving trip every day.

Agreed. Any traveling that doesnt cost the earth (much) and is close to home/near free is something your more likely to be able to do time and time again. It's great.

Traveling around the world and blowing money claiming there are things to do and see that cant be done locally (within australia/a drive/on tv/ read about in a book/ watch a doco on etc) i don't agree with.

yes I do hate the holiday wankers who believe just because they've been to the US and NZ that means they're sooooo much more cultured than you even though they're just cockspanks
but i wouldn't hate on travel just because it's expensive

Hahaha, Yeah. We were driving for ~2 hours without seeing anything but road and a few trees before we saw that sign and about 1hr after it before we saw anything else.

It's all about priorities. I thought you had a pretty decent job, which means you're spending your money on different things. Maybe fancy foods, Booze, Women or any number of other things.
I know heaps of people that cry poor, but go out drinking every weekend and have just dropped ~$150 on ParkLife tickets.

To Nerf.

I am a believer that something like travel, is something you reward yourself with when you are financially secure. I also think the same with expensive cars, i see so many youngsters shoot themselves in the foot and get huge loans out to pay for a nice car. They got no cash around to invest. They see me, and wonder how im doing it, and i tell them, i didn't waste my money on s*** like travel, and cars.

I have done a little bit of travel so far. But for now its enough, now i am focused on building up my company. I feel that working smart not hard, people can work hard and get paid nothing, between the ages of 20-30 is crucial, to how your life pans out in the future.

Working for yourself, while it is stressful as hell, its really rewarding when you see whats unfolding infront of you, what you are working on is growing, and succeeding. To me, i see that and no visit to some other place in the world could beat it.

jesus christ, do you have some kind of debilitating disability or debt or something?

any s***kicking retard can walk into a low-high 30k job in admin/call centre crap, if you actually have some kind of skills or talent there's no limit to what you can do if you shut the f*** up with the depression s***. $4k isn't really all that expensive for 7 weeks. it's ~$571.43/week for a f***ing overseas holiday - that's a whopping $121.43 more than you wanted to spend per week on a domestic holiday. get a f***ing grip.

i meant that $4k is cheap for 7 weeks holiday... & it is. if you can't save up $4k then that's more about your lack of determination than how much you get paid. if you never want something (like an o/s holiday) bad enough then sure... you'll never go.

umm that's less then 2 months wages (for most people here less then 1 month, but lets assume you don't earn good coin) and he was away for nearly 2 months...

I don't see how that's expensive, how much do you spend on living expenses in a 7 week period?

cape york is awesome... did it unsupported on my bike, rode up from sydney and back.

Planning an unsupported simpson crossing at some point on a DR650 with some mates. Best way to do it IMO... toughing it in the bush. You poofters in the 4WDs don't know what its all about with your A/C and eskys of beer...

Actually, i dont have the cash to run & own a 4x4 and im jealous.

we passed a dude on a treadly riding to cape york, was pretty cool I thought
incidentally I lost my aircon on that cape trip cos the corrugations leading up to mt dare rattled apart the stupid aluminium weld between two aircon pipes and the gas escaped. but yeh stil had plenty of eskys of booze!

I've done the Cape twice now and it's an awesome trip. Highly recommend for anyone that has the chance to do it.
I have a fridge/freezer too, so even warm beers can be cold beers in not much time at all.

The Cape is pretty busy these days, heaps of people up there.
Simpson is still pretty remote, we only came accross 2 other groups (1 was Bikes with a support vehicle) and an Old Couple in a Troopy who worked for some map company, spending like a month in the desert or something crazy. There were quite a few people in Birdsville and at a few stops along the way, but the desert was deserted...
It's amazing how much life is actually out there, beside the dingos. We constantly saw lizard tracks accross the vehicle paths and saw a few actually dart accross. There are weird natural springs just in the middle of no-where (where the Dead Camel in Jim's pic was near one) with green reeds and heaps of different animal tracks.

Vic Highlands this november, should be another awesome 4WD trip!

I had top notch suspension on the KTM i rode up there, it just glided over the worst of the corrugations without a hiccup.

Also just came back from a two week trip to the US, ended up a pretty exensive trip and I think I'll be doing it again its such a huge country even though some things are annoying like the tipping and unintelligent things the americans say.

My thoughts on the matter are exactly what acetame said.

I've got no problem with saving, I saved $20k in 1.5 years on a $37k job paying my own way in the world. You guys aren't going to get this, I think you don't know the value of money, and how easily it should be parted with if you're not secure against the state I've spent the last few years building myself up out of to get here. I don't like your advice, I think it's bad. I don't think you know what is important to be secure against. At this point I should probably go team up with one of those Asian immigrant families who work in their family shops seven days a week and don't stop year round, because at least I think I'll share the same notions of what's important with them.

This is my last post on the topic, I promised I'd stop with this s***, since we're never going to see eye-to-eye.

edit: I guess the difference is I cannot make a move while future security can too easily be compromised, even if the job and cash is there now the complete deal is not. I know what I am scared of slightly less than death, and it is being broke with no options and no control.

Yeah I couldnt get the SS as it was only available to Hertz gold members. Still though it was a much better drive than the cts, 300hp is not too shabby. Was going to hire a C6 but the boot was small so couldnt fit anything in. How did you get yours?

ahh, went to avis and i had to pretty much beg. 6 months too young for the min. age of 25, i had to ask to talk to the boss and state that i had an exemplary driving record and had been an racq member for 6 years. explained to her what the RACQ was... and she said yes :]...
with all the insurance options - cost 400aud for 24hrs.

absolutely worth every penny, drove the pants off it up the twistys near LA. pretty much one of the most awesome days of my life so far.

At first I felt the need to question what you were saying - instead I'll go with this - one of the best lessons I've had in recent years is that happiness is pretty much evolutionary crack - we're naturally inclined to be slightly dissatisfied with our situation more often than not (and this is a good thing, otherwise we'd be stagnating f***wits). Whether it be travel or experiencing life in some other way, I'm sure glad I'm forcing myself out to doing different things than waiting until everything is secure enough to take one step outside. After all, shortly after the first step I'll be slightly dissatisfied again and need to do something else before I die :)

Happiness isn't something I'm worried about. I don't refuse to let go completely, there are some things which just seem so huge that it makes what people say seem ridiculous, and frustrating.

Anyway, I don' want to take this thread off topic any more. I'm also not going to think in the same way as lots of you, and you won't with me, so it's better just not to discuss it.

Nerf

You earn 37k (roughly 30k after tax) and and claim to have saved 20k in 1.5 years?

I take it you don't pay rent or board, or have ANY bills at all then? If you pay any rent, there is no way you can save that much, s*** even buying FOOD would take out ~100 a week which is 5K, allow travel expenses and fuel, car rego etc etc you've already spent ~10k of you're 30k total cash.

Add in electricity, rent, phone (mobile or otherwise)

This doesn't even include any social outings etc

Do you even have a life?

No wonder you are bitter and twisted!
