Lucasarts and Traveller's Tales have announced LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars, the next addition to their accessible franchise amalgamation, boasting to "combine the best elements of all previous LEGOŽ games while adding brand new gameplay".

As the movie storylines have been exhausted by the previous two games, LEGO Star Wars 3 will instead apply the building block treatment to the more recent animated TV series.
LEGOŽ Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will include all the characters from both seasons of the hugely popular animated television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as some fan-favourite characters from the beloved theatrical Star Wars Saga. The game will feature brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder, allowing the creation of customized bases and in-game battlefields. Play either as a Jedi or Separatist with all-new character abilities, such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, easy-to-navigate hub.
Look for this one on all major platforms (Wii, DS, PC, X360, PS3 & PSP) in Spring 2010 (U.S. Fall).

I retweeted this announcement this afternoon. First retweet ever; Ausgamers should be proud. I added that I'm apprehensive about it because I haven't seen Clone Wars.

Clone Wars is awesome. The traditionally animated shorts were fun, but the CG series is all sorts of kickass. I could probably suggest a list of eps to watch from Season 1, but all of Season 2 has been nothing short of amazing. The kiddy s*** has been ditched in favour of serious-ish 'dark' stories & the like. No Jar-Jar pretending to be a Jedi & making fart jokes, but lots of Jedis ramming lightsabers through peoples chest etc.
