I've just finished reformatting the pc I have my Ipod hooked upto and have just reinstalled Itunes. Before I formatted, I exported my playlist but now when I go to import my playlist it tells me that it can't find all the songs. The songs that I'm missing are all of my cd's that I've added through the years and I don't really feel like going through my cd collection and add them all again. What I'd like to know is there a way I can import the songs that are on the Ipod into Itunes or will I have to bite the bullet and install all my cd's the hard way?

Yeah, exporting the playlist just exports an xml file, doesn't do anything with the actual music files. You gotta copy those manually. GG apple.
edit: I didn't see that other bit, yeah I think you can re-add them if your ipod was and still is in disk mode, you just drag them off the ipod into windows through explorer like a removable hard drive. |

There are programs you can get that let you get the music off your ipod, but all the ones I've seen you have to pay for. Pretty sure you can't just open your ipod like a usb hdd and copy them off though. |

^well i just use rockbox and when connected it comes up just like an external hdd....
but if i have winamp open, it does ask me if i want to sync the new drive with it so im presuming winamp can be used with an ipod via 3rd party software. i just drop and drag though as my music is well tagged and ready to go. |
