Hi All

Another questions as this is the source of all knowledge. My Dell laptop battery is old and had it, only last less than an hour now when not connected to the outlet.

Asked Dell how much it would cost for a replacement and they came back with $230! anyway, was googling on websites on reconditioning batteries and some had things like turning it on with the battery and draining it completely and power up again and draining it...repeat and rinse....not sure if this idea works, haven't tried it out.

But anyone know if there is a place in Brissy that reconditions batteries at a reasonable price or can I try the method mentioned?

What type of battery is it? I just got a quote for $80 on a D630 replacement battery.

$230? is it gold plated?
I bought a normal battery AND the 7 hour battery for my Dell, for less than that price, back in the day

You want a repack, not a recondition.

I have an Inspiron 1520. It is the 9 cell battery that has about 1.5cm of the battery sticking out of the laptop.

Yeah, I never bought a spare battery when I bought the laptop, would have been cheaper.

but $230 for a battery, that is just crap.

This was their letter back to me:

The price of the 9-Cell battery for Inspiron 1520 is $230 plus GST.Please do not hesitate to contact us via email or phone if you wish to place the order. Alternatively you can also place the order from our website. Thank you.

just buy a new laptop if they want to charge you $230 for a new battery

Has anyone here had to get the battery replaced om a macbook pro? I fear the day mine dies because there's no way to get at it without taking the entire thing to pieces, it's tucked away inside somewhere :(
