Pretty interesting article that insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan have been intercepting the video feed from US remotely controlled fighter drones to monitor them, all done with cheap software off the net. Makes me wonder if they've not been or couldn't be subject to more elaborate man in the middle attacks.

Doubt it. Man-in-middle would probably be easily detectable as we're talking about wireless signals. Also from what I gather only the downstream video data is unencrypted, so no man-in-middle anyway and no possible controlling of the drone unless you tackle the encryption (a $26 piece of software won't do that).

Sounds like fun until you see the camera pointing at your house and getting closer and closer and closer and closer..

It's not really hacking to listen to someone elses unencrypted wireless traffic. If it had some basic encryption like WEP and they figured out how to bypass it or decode it, then I'd let this be called "hacking". >:3
