Ubisoft and many other publishers are starting to shy from the Holiday period as it closes in on us, and with good reason it seems. The global financial crisis is a major factor, but we're going to put our money on releases such as Modern Warfare 2 taking away potential cash-earnings for other titles, which is why Ubisoft have pushed both Red Steel 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction back into 2010 (well, they actually cite low earnings as the reason) where those games will join the likes of BioShock 2, Heavy Rain, Singularity and more. We're not complaining too much though, it was a point of concern last year and in 2007 punters were being given too much at once - now maybe the game release schedules will finally spread more evenly throughout the year. And hey, we still have Assassin's Creed coming from Ubi, so it's not all bad. |
