I've been wanting to upgrade to a Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera and was wondering if anyone had any mates in camera stores that could give a good price on one... if any extra warranty, memory cards or gift packs are available wouldn't mind that as well incorporated into the package.

If you like buying grey imports, then go to the above.

If you want proper imports canon australia and great service, go to photo continental.

I almost bought through D&D until PC price matched it (lower for some stuff) and then explained the warrenty issues you can have with grey imports.

b&hphoto hands down, I brought my 580ex II and 70-200 F2.8L IS from them, keep in mind though that you will need to add an international warranty option to the body, as most bodies have a local (country of origin) b2b canon warranty. Where as L glass USA non grey's carry an international warranty.

Digital Rev is another one as well, with any luck they can bring it in and sneak it though customs without incurring the GST

photo continental will match prices..

canon australia don't cover grety imports for bodies, but i think they cover for lenses, you can get a mack warranty but have read mixed reviews about it.

If you goto pretty much any walk in store you will get a deal if you push. I got a bag, polarising filter, memory card, lens cleaner and some other stuff for free when I got my last one.

Don't know what others will say, but buy a filter for you lens, just a uv filter is all you need. Rather waste few extra bucks for bit more protection to cover that expensive glass in the lens..

I honestly don't understand why people go out and not protect their lenses..

Check out www.camerasdirect.com.au I bought an SB600 from there and it was the cheapest at the time and received it a day later.

I think they are based on the Gold Coast, not sure if they offer pick-up though.

Haha, I used to use them on my cheapo plastic crap kit lenses but on my pricy glass I just don't for some reason. I really should buy some more.

I go to photo continental because they keep a record of all your transactions so if you lose your receipt you can still claim warranty.
