Black people have thicker skulls so they don't float as well us white folk.

We had to teach our black gardener to swim because we had a pool and wanted to be sure he could make it to the side if he fell in. He was just plain terrified of the water. But he finally got to the point where he wouldn't panic and sink like a stone. He was a great guy - poor bastard died a few years later from TB thanks to shoddy public health treatment. Life expectancy of black males isn't great in South Africa - he was only 34 or so.

Something to do with fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers I suspect. Places like Kenya probably don't have the best swimming facilities.

I was maybe 13 at the time so my medical training was not up to scratch. He had told us he was getting treatment and wouldn't be working for a while.

Thousands of people die of TB in Africa each year. One of the problems is the patients start to feel better midway through the treatment and so stop taking their medication. Which then results in the TB coming back and nailing them. And as a consequence of that there are now TB strains that are resistant to the existing drugs. TB is just one of many diseases that are still killing thousands in third world countries.

I heard South Africa is a really bad place to live now. 25% unemployment Power rationing during the day in Jo'berg. Babies getting raped. Lot of people in cities dont have water and electricity connected.
Government blames Mining Companies for sucking too much power but apparantly the Government has not been building infrastructure for the last 10 years.

Surprisingly faceman is posting stuff I've read in the South African news.

Unemployment is high; widespread power rationing started late 2007 (due to mismanagement, lack of funding, and little or no maintenance); highest AIDS infection rate and deaths in the world and some people with AIDS are told by witch-doctors that sex with a baby or child will cure them; lot of people not having water or electricity is nothing new; and laughably gold mines were affected by the power cuts which is really stupid of the government when you consider that mining is one of the country's main industries.
