I called the ACCC already, they said "theres nothing we can do because they're in victoria and you're in QLD" or some bulls*** like that

I bought my current house from a guy that ran a removal company. The f***er never changed his address when he left so now I get process servers coming at all times of the night. He must be pissing a lot of people off, we've had 2 this month.

They only ever come at night and won't answer any questions, they just demand to know if I'm the guy they're looking for. I had to corner one and threaten to hold them till the police come unless they told me why they're banging on my door at 10pm. Not that I would have bothered calling the cops.

When we looked at the house, we weren't allowed to look in one of the large storage sheds out the back since he was "holding furniture" for clients. More likely holding it to blackmail them into paying.

Anybody who is in the business of assisting people with their lives generally is not good at anything, that is why their lives are simply to assist and not to live their own life. People in removals, and who work in food service (over 25 years old). They weren't clever enough to get a real job like you have, nor are they clever enough to serve food or do removals properly. Which is a real shame and highlights a massive problem with our society. Weakest link kinda stuff.
I think the council/mayor should do something about this. It is bringing us down as a whole. Name and shame the worst businesses and staff, tell them to get out of town, etc... Let us all go on with our lives without having to deal with the incompetent.

fair trading is state level, accc is federal level.

Get a lawyer to send them a letter first up. Less $$ in comparison to just taking them straight to court. They may realise you mean business and cough up the amount required from them.

Alternatively contact the ombudsmen for removalists (lol) or the ACCC and let them handle it.

Also - i am certain you can actually lodge a small claims court and have a notice sent to them. Where they will be required to travel to QLD to sit the hearing or loose it all together.

Make sure you have receipts, originals, and photo's of before and after (if you do...)

They will ask for that kind of proof imo.

Cut the jibber jabber fool and get a f***ing lawyer and small claims onto it already. Did you read that s*** I gave you? What is your action?

XaltD - It would depend where the contract was formed. If it's an interstate company moving from interstate to Queensland, it's likely a Queensland tribunal will be for want of jurisdiction.

All dispute resolution starts with a letter. Then there are various avenues depending on the debtor's structure. (business vs company vs trust)
