Well I'm not exactly but my wife is, we're known for a while now but only today did we have the 2nd scan which can tell us what sex it is, a girl!

She's halfway done now, just need some basting and another 20 weeks in the oven. But she's already a cheeky bugger as you can see below...

Good work man. The scans are really cool these days. Did you have to pay for that? My son is 8 mths old now and we had to pay something like $250 for a 3d scan package. It included DVD and Stills.

Congrats - but remember, being told you are having a girl isn't guaranteed like it is being told you have a boy. But yeah, these days those little guys can't hide from anyone - everyone poking and taking photos!

It's a great journey

I waited to find out the sex of both of my children, but later found out that my wife knew the sex of our second child! Good on her for keeping it such a well hidden secret, I ad no idea!

Congrats to you though mate, at least you don't have to fight the fire extinguisher first time around ;)

babys (and their rooms) need preppin

Pfft, Didn't find out with any of my kids and I didn't have an ultrasound at all with my last one. You don't need to give a kid a themed room that dates within a year anyway (and during that year the kids doesn't even notice the room at all)

Damn impatient techno monkies! All now now now, no one is willing to wait any more!

babys rooms need colours

i cant be putting a girl in a blue room, i cant even imagine what sort of gender confusion that would cause

i still get my jollies finding out the sex at 18 weeks, i dont need to wait until the kid is born

we had bought and borrowed tons of clothes for spook jnr before he was born, petal likes to be organised

We had our 20 week scan at Q-Scan (everton park) yesterday, a BMW reversed into the hand rail out the front and smashed it off the wall yet the bumper just popped straight back out

I thought of Jim and laughed

I agree with Kat...

If you feel the need to paint the room (or whatever) i'm sure there's lots of colours that aren't pink or blue. I hate that those colours are used to represent sex! I also hate it that a large marjority of young girls love the colour pink, and i blame the parents for always dressing them in it.

Spook: The climate we live in the baby doesn't wear more than singlets for the first few weeks anyway. Then you have friends and family who all want to buy a *colour* outfit once the bub is born. The kid doesn't go without clothes just because you didn't buy a whole wardrobe before it was born. Plus, you rarely get to dress kids in the pretty clothes anyway.

Our kids rooms are green and grey, and blue and yellow. Both neutral and none of our kids seem to have any problem identifying with their gender. The girls love pink - and not a pink room in sight.

The last baby was super fun. We had tried for a boy and had no idea if it worked or not. We worked off heartbeat which changed from fast to slow, one visit it was a boy and the next it was a girl. The midwife said it had a small bum so she suspected a boy - but we had no idea. It was hella fun not knowing and the moment he was born was filled with anticipation and excitement. You shouldn't see bub until bub sees you, it's unfair!!!!

But parents will do what parents want to do!

Congrats! All these qgl peeps breeding.

I have discussed with my other half if we should find out the sex of the baby before birth when we eventually get around to breeding. She doesn't want to know till its born, and I want to know asap. So I think I'll just find out and then tease her for the rest of the pregnancy.

opinionated much kat? stfu

we weren't ever planning on doing gender themed room, we were going neutral since the beginning.

Knowing what it is just helps picking a name, if I'd known it was a boy I could have gotten hand me downs from my sister's 2 boys, now that I know it's a girl I know we have to buy stuff.

When's fathers day teq? we're due early sept

first Sunday of September - the 6th this year

and yeah Kat, who cares what other people do with their own kids as long as they look after them
we've got neutral colors AND pink stuff (grandma went out and bought some pink stuff minutes after I told her its a girl)

You don't have to associate the child with any particular color, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt them either way

We used this book
http://www.babyhopes.com/products/how-to-choose-the-sex-of-your-baby-book.html

It's about timing and environment. No one knows if it actually works or if it is just pure fluke. But it 'worked' for us :)

And yes I am opinionated, if I wasn't I wouldn't be on an internet forum

And WetWired, don't get your knickers in a knot. Spook kept harping on the issue so I replied to his posts. not having a go at you specifically. Geese, pregnancy hormones by proxy much? (and yes, t doesn't happen :P)

Jim, because you mentioned in my petrol station rage thread ;)

has your mrs been sick wet?

mine didn't throw up even once, we found out she was pregnant after we went fishing and she thought she might be sick because the boat was "rocking" (it was as flat as my first girlfriends chest)

turned out she was just hungry, every morning she'd wake up feeling less than 100% but she would eat and feel all better, thats when I bought the @home test kit hah

hasn't even been moody/emo and we're ~half way through

and HELL YES it would be the best fathers day present ever, I would never care about getting a fathers day present if it was my first daughters bday :D

Kat, i'm pretty sure that's right you know.
Quick easy facts: Boy Sperm swim faster than Girl Sperm, but Girl Sperm live longer. So have sex a day or three before ovulation and you increase your chance of having a girl.

Exactly. You want a boy you have sex on or within 12 hours of ovulation.

Not sure if other factors in the book actually help, but it did for us. Highly suggest it. But I don't suggest having a baby just to get certain sex. You got to be prepared for failure! :D

its not a failure either way

I would have loved a boy, then a girl - so my princess had a big brother to look out for her
a girl for me is much scarier, I kinda think I would at least have half a clue what to do in regards to raising a boy

0 idea with a girl, but I am still over the moon and looking forward to it ++++++

Also a lot of babies are born with genetic defects, you don't really realise this because most of these people stay behind locked doors or are dead. So apart from whether it's a boy or girl, you can try and guess which genetic defect they'll get!

I wanted a boy first up, and got a girl.

I loved the girl so much I decided I wanted another one, and got a boy.

Next one won't beother me at all, as it turns out they are both great!

I personally prefer not to find out, but the wife likes to be organised and it turns out she knew for ages with the 2nd one and never let on at all.
