"Knowing" the latest film from Director Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City, I, Robot) hits theaters nation-wide today March 26th 2009 and thanks to Icon Film Distribution Australia we've got 30 double passes to give away - as well as few keychain lights (batteries included) for those dark, scary times when you could use a little luminescence. Here's the blurb:
When a professor stumbles on a set of coded numbers, written in 1959 and buried in a time capsule at his son's school, he makes a startling discovery. The cryptic message predicts every major disaster of the past 50 years and holds chilling predictions about future catastrophes—the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale.
I know how much you all love 25 words or less comps, but it's still the easiest way for us to hand these kind of things out so here goes:

All you have to do is tell us, in 25 words or less: What would be the funniest thing to put in a time capsule and why?

These passes can be used at most major cinemas nationwide (excluding gold class and imax types) so Enter now!

Watched this movie last night and must say that I was quite impressed. Not that big of a Nicholas Cage fan but still enjoyed it regardless.

Is it true the ending is possibly one of the worst movie endings in a very long time?

Indy 4 had an ending?

I thought they returned the skull, the baddie just dropped dead and they all escaped to live happily ever after? At least that's what I remember happened....

So what's the ending to the movie? Does he find out there's a nuclear bomb in the city and he manages to disarm it or something lame like that?

Be nice if he knew something big was going to wipe out a city and he couldn't stop it.

Spoiler:
According to wiki, he finds out something about Angels inhabiting this world and they're only here to save the kids. They then find out a giant solar flare is heading to wipe out all life on earth. Movie ends with everyone dying and a couple of kids dressed in white running towards a giant tree.

Sounds almost worse than the village.

Coolies

Well as long as everything leading up to the end is good that ending seems fine.

depends - it varies quite a bit from several hundred to not very many. At this stage this one is on the lower end of the spectrum, so your chances are excellent if you show some creativity :>

I'm still seeing 'Judges are still in deliberation over the winners. Check back soon to see the winning entries.' from the 'View Winners' link on the competition page.

Either it must be a tough call, or the judges were in a hurry to get out of work and start the long weekend just like I was. :D

I finally got around to using these tickets today, had to go to a cinema half way across the city as noone's showing it anymore.

There were quite a few small children in the cinema - they were removed by their parents at multiple points in the film, and I can't say I'm surprised. Those kids are going to be scarred as hell for life, and fear flying, getting stuck on freeways in torrential rain, and train travel.

So it wasn't bad to start out. But then it took a turn (for the worst of course). It's like the director went "hey, uhh, guys, we've run out of money. So here's what we're going to do to wrap this up". I mean seriously, without giving spoilers, the last quarter of this movie ends with a storyline on par with Mission to Mars.

On the plus side, I got to see a Transformers 2 trailer that I hadn't seen before (to which my overheard comment "yep, and that's about as much storyline the actual movie is going to have as well" got a laugh from the whole cinema - for those of you who haven't seen that particular trailer, it's the one that just shows nothing but s*** blowing up and transformers destroying things :)

Saw Trek this weekend, and I agree. Parents bringing kids and/or babies to cinemas showing non-kids movies annoy me greatly. Inevitably the kids are going to get restless and the babies end up crying.

Also saw the Transformers 2 trailer and the flick looks decent.
I can suspend disbelief about alien robots that can change shape and have massively destructive battles with each other. The one thing that ruins it for me and I can't get past though is Shia LeBoofhead hooking up with Megan Fox.
Not gonna happen in a million years!
