So i am playing through farcry 2 at the moment and am finding it how i wish GTA IV played. GTA IV had far superior characters and story, but the gameplay of FarCry 2 is excellent.

ps i have malaria.

Prepare to get thoroughly bored as you fight through checkpoint after checkpoint after checkpoint and work out the enemy AI is utter rubbish.

gave up on it in the end because nf told me it was s*** (repeatedly)

what s***s me the most is the fact they couldn't even implement a true faction system, it would of been awesome if you could TRULY pick sides and get allies. instead of the oh, my guys will shoot you too cause its a "secret mission".

I think the most frustrating thing is, that you know it COULD have been such a good game with a little more thought put into the design.

maybe it will get boring and repetitive, but the fundamentals are pretty solid. finding diamonds is a treat and an incentive to explore. the world is really well realised.

i followed my bleeping gps dot and found a diamond case under a bridge that crossed a huge gorge with a river flowing underneath it, with no way to get back up to the road, the only way left to go was to take the plunge. I followed the river upstream, found a boat and went cruising up to a waterfall...

It was a very exhilirating bit of exploration. On par with some parts of fallout3.

using bus' and boats is the quickest was around the game. i played for abit then got bored so i stoppped for about a month, playing it again now and am enjoying it. tho i got a trainer for diamonds, that gets boring really fast. i am at 90% now. checkpoints are stupid, you go past 1 then back about 30secs later and wow everyone is back again. also stupid mortar fire that comes randomly.

yeah cause you always find diamonds in briefcases under bridges and have no where to turn but to jump off a 10 metre cliff into the river below on your bushwalks.

or is it more like following a track?

This didn't actually happen to you...it was a game...taking place in your fragatorium.

p.s you're so cute when you get passionate about your video games. Don't mind me - I'm just jealous cause you make posts on QGL about them and not me :(

it is certainly not on better than fallout 3. fallout 3 surpasses the sum of its parts imo, and some parts of farcry 2 are good.

but its certainly not better than fallout3

I gave up seriously on that game after the 1st mission and how boringly\generic and pathetic it was. no way could I play through it when the opening mission was as bad as it was.

I'd feel so much better about Far Cry2 if the enemy at the check points didnt respawn once your around the corner from them. I want to drive back past the check point a half hour later and see the bodies still lying there. Maybe a hyena dragging off bodies into the bush would be a nice touch as well.

sadly, you're not the only moron on this forum.

my favourite part of farcry 2 was dragging it to the recycle bin. surprisingly, i only had to do it once.

Farcry 2 was ghey as AIDS +10 to deleting it. Nearly as s*** house as Fallout3 worst games of 08.

Way to bring up an old thread.

Please don't do it again, specially when you made an entirely new thread that is far more appropriate.

i uninstalled the game after 1.5hrs of playing it.. clearing a check point to come back and have to re clear it.. enemies taking like 5+ shots to the chest just to kill... boring as bat s*** tbh.

I got this game bundled with my video card. Played it for a couple of hours and then never went back. Boring as hell.

That video review sums up exactly how I feel after 2 hours of playing Farcry 2.
