apart from being HD, it pretty well sums up the awfulness that the simpsons has become in years of late.

It's been more than a decade since The Simpsons was great, I'd say series 8 was probably the last really good one.

I haven't watched The Simpsons is so damn long. Not that I've been avoiding it, I just don't watch TV anymore. Glad to see that it's in HD though, cartoons actually gain a lot from the extra resolution, they almost look like high-quality vector animations.

lately whenever I watch a simpsons episode I am left feeling less intelligent than before I started
Can't believe they've done a new episode nearly every week for 20 years though |

I agree that season 8 was the height of their comedy and I have found the last couple of seasons literally painful to watch. But I saw what I think was a new new episode a few weeks ago that was actually funny, could it be that they're finding some funny again? Or did I just get lucky or something. Also agree that Family Guy is where it's at. |

Most of the episodes i've seen here and there of the last few seasons haven't been that great. Maybe a mild funny here and there.
Family guy is alright if you can get over the reliance on irrelevant cut scenes for humor. Not saying they aren't funny, just not everyone's cup of tea. That said, i found the "Surfin' Bird" episode to be quite hilarious. |

I reckon The Simpsons has definitely picked up in the last season or two, it's still a bit hit and miss but better than where it was sitting around S11-18. Also, agreed that Season 8 and 9 where at the height of the show. The Frank Grimes ep is still probably my favorite episode.

finally changed the intro. Its a pretty funny episode.
i just finished gettin the entire sumpsons series, season 1-20.. took f***in forever. I've been watching some of the older ones and there is a fair bit of drug reference in the earlier ones, crack pipes etc.. is pretty funny. |

It just isn't simpsons anymore. I don't like the new style of animation with all the shadows and stuff. I hated the movie because of it all too. I liked the crude style of the simpsons.

The latest Futurama on the other hand ... hmm questionable.Bender's Big Score is the only decent Futurama movie so far, here's hoping Into the Wild Green Yonder is better. |

and I have found the last couple of seasons literally painful to watch.I find this difficult to believe. Honestly you'd think it was the first time some of you had encountered hyperbole as a literary device. |

The word "literally" isn't an exaggeration. It's usually used as a way to say "I'm not exaggerating this."

So a "literal hyperbole" is an oxymoron??
