Apparently UQ decided to delete all the student emails/contacts/inbox from my.uq and replace it with a link to login.live.com where you can login to a brand new blank uqconnect.com.au account.
Anyone know some details about this? It is really s***, and especially s*** if you already used live.com for something else, since now you will have to constantly retype the different email addresses you want to log in to. |

Yeah, it was so that students could retain a uq email address after they graduate, rather than the usual 6 months and your gone. I'm guessing you clicked the Mail+ and activated it. Its good in a way cause it fits in nicely with UQ's other mail systems (ie: exchange). There are a heap of issues with it, my advice is if you have any issues at all (like the ones you mentioned), forward them onto ITS. Its not going to mean much if only one person does it, but if everyone does it hopefully they will take notice.

It costs $220 a year to have that address as an alumni.
I'm guessing you clicked the Mail+ and activated it. 'Activated' it? OK how do I deactive it? last edited by thermite at 14:39:32 12/Feb/09 |

So is the address like - name@uqconnect.com.au ?
I thought they would have kept .edu in there, since various services around the net and other places require you to have a .edu email address (easy way to filter out non students). |

Check out the guide here - http://uqconnect.net/helpdesk/student/email/ - yeah the new system may not be so great, but at this way you have your email for life and it is a load easier for the guys at UQ to manage. Trust me on this one.
There are a few teething problems with it, but if you call up the Central IT guys, they'll help you out - I believe you need to activate your account first, and then proceed with the setup of your email account via that guide listed above. I've personally noticed that it is a lot faster, and the web based system is quite cool. |

Is there a way to redirect via the webmail interface? The instructions say go to Options -> Organise, but I don't see that.

Oh, I see, the instructions say you can only use this in Internet explorer 7. You know I don't feel terribly motivated reporting problems to someone who just probably spent thousands buying microsoft technology only to tell me to stop using firefox.

Yeah actually it is uqconnect.edu.au And it puts ads into your email footer when you send, this is embarassing. |

Bumping this thread to ask if its possible to sync the uq email calender with outlook 2007? Do you mean just in my.uq or in mail+ (I don't have the option to use mail+ yet). For my.uq calendar - Not as far as I know, I don't think its exchange'nabled. Best bet would be to export the calendar, then import it into googlecal. Googlecal is the best way to sync these days. |

Yeah, for Mail+ I would assume there is one, the marketing speil that I've seen is that its exchange type setup, so yeah, cal syncing should be there. If you can set up the mail+ email to outlook as an exchange connection, it should allow you to pull contacts and calendar over too.

Sorry for reviving, but can anyone help me to configure gmail to import my new UQ account? My old account is importing fine, but I get this error message for the new account: There was a problem connecting to mail.psy.uq.edu.au
Show error details Server returned error: "We were unable to locate the other domain. Please contact your other provider." |

I managed to add my UQ email account as an additional mail account to my iPhone. Yay! If anyone wants to know how to do this.. Go to: settings; mail, contacts..; add account; microsoft exchange # Tap in the E-mail box and enter your @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address. # Tap in the Username box and enter your @uqconnect.edu.au e-mail address again. # Tap in the Password box and enter your email password. # Tap Next on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. # Tap in the Server box and enter: m.exchangelabs.com # Tap Next. # Choose the type of information you want to synchronize. By default, Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are all turned on. To turn off synchronization for a type of information, tap and slide the switch to OFF. # Tap Save. # If you are prompted to create a new passcode, tap Continue and enter a numeric passcode. You will need to enter the Passcode twice. |

I did that until I realised i might as well just keep forwarding it to my gmail account so it's not wasting battery fetching 2 mail accounts. |

Nice work tracme.
Alt_F4, the only problem with forwarding to gmail is that whenever you want to reply to a uni email you still have to fkn login to uqconnect -> gayest thing ever. |
