I still haven't watched the first season yet. I've got a copy here but I'm wondering if I should wait and watch this first or do you reckon it won't even matter?

Is the acting still as bad with completely different characters? I found the first to be completely unwatchable after being so spoiled by so many top shelf US gangland shows.

I've just finished the first two eps of season one and I'm really liking it so far. I don't mind the acting either, seems alright to me for an Aussie drama.

lucky im so interested in the actual storyI was just thinking how i would probably enjoy this show more if it was one of those "true crime" shows with dodgy reenactments that you catch while changing channels on late night tv and end up watching til the end, but watching underbelly i just didn't really care. |

I would hate to be such a douche that I couldn't just sit back and watch a show for enjoyment purposes without nitpicking the f*** out of every aspect of it
seriously |

yeah i didn't mind it, except fake tits didn't exist in the 70's
i didn't watch the first one, simply couldn't be f***ed aussie tv etc the old school stuff interests me more, and the fact i have never seen any of these actors previously (except for that top cop dude) because i don't watch home and away etc makes it better last edited by paveway at 09:06:51 11/Feb/09 |

I reckon that must be why my gf doesn't want to watch Underbelly - she must get put off by mobsters not sounding like Italo-Americans. (she enjoyed The Sopranos)But the gang members in The Shield and Sons of Anarchy or Brotherhood aren't Italian either and they're all great tv. There weren't any preconceived notions for me and I really wanted it to be good; it was just the bad acting. Don't know how you could call not liking poor acting nitpicking, it's a key ingredient to any good drama. |

Yes, more Sons of Anarchy please.
Although, I did watch this on monday night and found it reasonably entertaining, not sure it was entertaining enough that I'll make sure I catch it every week, but I found it pretty easy to watch. |

Yeah the show is pretty bad compared to american shows. Cheesy writing, acting, there always seems to be a stupid music score in the background to filter out the bad acting/writing. HOWWEVER as far as australian shows go it is pretty good.

its only when you compare it to over dramatised and over-acted american tv shows
personally I think we should give aussie actors the benefit of the doubt, they're not hollywood actors - they're aussies and they're having a go |

I reckon the quality of cameras/picture quality held Australia back in the film industry. I think we're up there with Hollywood of late and only going to get better. I cant stand pommy tv/movies. You probably are not use to watching an Australian cast in movies or tv shows because all you were bought up with and brainwashed with is yank trash.

you can download and are encouraged to share the episodes! a bold step. it's using hiro which I'm pretty sure is GPL-violating stuff but still, neat |

You can also copy and share each episode or even distribute the files via file-sharing applications, such as Bit Torrent. Each file is available from the date the episode was broadcast on TV and remains active until the end of the series. Note: this series is only available to download in Australia. If they're letting you leech them for free and even share, then why don't they just release them in avi format? |

The Hiro format allows them to dynamically embed ads (which I'm all for - I'd happy take embedded ads to get free video stuff). |

Mmm, I see. Well as long as you could skip the ads.
EDIT: - I started viewing a video and then it stopped and I got the following message: "Sorry! Viewing will stop temporarily while HIRO updates some files. Please check your Internet connection, restart QuickTime, and try again." What does this mean? Sounds like a pain in the ass if this happens. When you say dynamic do you mean it's downloading ads on the fly while the video plays? last edited by Reverend Evil™ at 10:25:15 12/Feb/09 |

I agree with the poor casting choice of Mathew Newton. Not only was it reported that he bashed his girlfriend Brook an ex member of Neighbours but there was also that incident on channel Ten. In 2006, Newton appeared on NYE 2006/7 episode of The Big Night In with John Foreman on channel Ten in which he engaged in simulated sex acts, other suggestive activity as well as bad language. The Daily Telegraph reported on his antics and the programme received criticism and outrage from viewers as "sub-standard coverage" and "the worst ever." What a douche.. Im sure Chris Brown is going to agree that it is difficult to come back from behaviour like that. Newton hasn’t done anything good that I have seen and he’s kiwi accent is definitely nothing great. |

I wonder if Matthew Newton will bash any girls in this season? Although he was conficted of it, he also had the conviction overturned. But yeah, I would probably believe Brooke over him in that story. |
