I need to buy a new mouse, being used for fps gaming so it'll have to be decent.
A while ago I was eyeing off the cordless version of the Logitech G5 (The G7, I *think*), however I can't seem to find anyone selling it anymore, just the G5. I'd prefer a good cordless mouse, budget is around $100. Suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks |

I use the oldschool intellimouse 1.1a.
Not interested in the new mice.. ive heard there is an advantage using mice with lower DPI in FPS games also.. not sure though. |

I use the oldschool intellimouse 1.1a. Same, 3rd one now, many years of FPS have engrained the button positions in my brain. |

I have the logitech keyboard/mouse combo mx5500 and I find the grip on the mouse to be too thin, my thumb sits kinda funny. Go into officeworks they have all the mice out so you can see what they feel like. I reckon comfort is the first thing you should go for.

+1 for the G5.
Also, if you haven't got a decent mousemat, look at the Razer eXactMat (reversible). I was reall skeptical about the improvements a "precision gaming surface" (lol) would provide, but have found it to be really quite noticeable. |

Razor Death adder is what I have and I wouldn't have anything else. As for cordless well I still have a Logitech Mx 700 it's good but to heavy and I got sick of constantly recharging batteries.

I'm using an intellimouse v3, I love it so much I have about 3 of them... you know, in case I smash one out of rage :p
My mate has an mx revolution something or other, I think it's a big chunky piece of s*** but he loves it and says he wouldn't use any other mouse (it's wireless). How the hell you can use this I don't know, but he can. |

I bought a G9, big mistake. The satin grip started peeling off after only 3 months and logitech won't replace the grips outside of america.

the older mx510 was better than my current 518 for some reason. whatever 'improvements' they made in the 518 seem to make it a little buggier and more annoying to get working right.

ive had a razer diamondback for a few years, the rubber grips on the side have been annoying me for ages so i've now switched to a logitech mx518.
Alot more comfortable and performs just as well. Its corded and can be had for under $50 if you shop around. |

MSY have it for $29. Despite Scoobys issues, it is a great mouse IMO. I've tried the G5 also, it did not seem much different than the MX518 (the MX518 is rated at 1800 dpi, and the G5 at 2000 dpi - so despite G5 being a laser mouse, not much difference). The G5 costs about $50 more as well. If you are keen to spend though, everyone who has a G9 seems to rave about it (they come in at about $100). |

Yeah G9 here also, been using it for over a year and it's great - the software is good too. Zero problems at all; not sure what that other dude is saying about the satin finish wearing off. The shape took me a few days of getting used to though after using a V3 for like 8 years prior.

My recommendation: MX518 with the original optical sensor (if you can still get it) or Razer Deathadder (most likely Im thinking you're right handed like the rest of the population). Read the review and consider it for yourself: http://www.esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1300293&page=3%22 I also find it very nice (ironic) that while Logitech keeps producing something that looks like the Star Trek enterprise console *shakes head* Razer keep producing interesting cool products. http://www.logitech.com/repository/1262/jpg/12187.1.0.jpg You also might like to consider what sort of mouse pad you use as well. I won't recommend anything unless you ask me in here. On my -want list- though: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9058&Itemid=38
http://www.tweaktown.com/news/11015/razer_showcases_new_gaming_peripherals_at_ces/index.html Nice to see they finally have a mouse that can operate wirelessly, helps for the bigger resolutions just with tracking cause some people have bigger monitors like the 27 and 32 inch LCD monitors. |

The shape took me a few days of getting used to though after using a V3 for like 8 years prior. I've got a G9 here, and the satin finish on the grip started to bubble and came off. I returned it to electronics boutique and they replaced it. now the second one is starting to do it again. Both were within 3-4 months of use. If it happens to the same extent, i'll be returning it again. Apart from that I like the mouse and it works quite well apart from the wearing... last edited by benneth at 19:11:50 10/Jan/09 |

MX510. I have two MX510s and an MX518 and I much prefer the feel of the MX510, the 518 gets very greasy.

I've got those IntelliMouse ones for both my machines and they work great. The first one I bought prolly 8 years ago and it's still going strong.

i got the mx5500 and i like it alot
i remember I saw a post about how the mouse has the free spin and no button click.. but after i bought it and installed the logitech software i found its all just in options.. i have mine set up with push mouse 3 button and its the same as any other mouse i have used.. one thing is the wieght.. i'm used to lighter mice.. this is a little heavier.. nothing to dramatic though |

+ 1 for M$ IntelliMouse. Only wish i could get a couple more as this one resembles my old monitor. FUBAR'd but functioning... kinda. You just gotta bash it at certain intervals, and use it at a angle, and press some of the buttons really hard but still, its awesome mouse :D

Do you have sweaty palms? Perhaps the oils in the hand are accelerating the decay of the grip? |
