I've always been a minimalist and it shows in a lot of things I do including my computer.

res is 1680 x 1050 (image is resized)

Lots of space and nothing in it. So I'd like to spice up my desktop a bit. Thinking about getting raincalender i think it is and changing the task bar to something funky but what else can I do?

Give me some ideas!

I'm trying to get the Engima desktop skin going but failing miserably. The instructions seem to be for a different version. Except both new and old version dont have the expanded config menu. I'm at a loss here :(

edit: ok I got it working, well most of it. How do you get rid of the task bar?

i've been messing around a little bit and it's still a WIP but once I work out a few more things it'll be workable

EDIT - I fail at linking thumbnail pics so this will have to do

edit: ^^ on what planet need a desktop screenshot be 1+ megabytes? Especially hosted on imagesnail.

I have the windows vista sidebar sitting on the side of my laptop screen, it also has a gadget that switches wallpapers (I've got it set to 5 minutes). You could try using that and gadgets if you like sidebars.

As for samurize vs rainlender I haven't use samurize in like 5 years and I've never used rainlender so can't compare sorry. Looks like someone else said samurize hasn't even been updated in a while so probably best to give it a miss.

Ok after a bit of tinkering and a change in docking program, I got it sorta running decently. Just need to add a few more bells and whistles. Mabye a rainmeter calander skin somewhere along the left hand side. The docks hide when i go full screen with any program and come back straight away when I leave. Yay for emerge desktop awesomness.

DM how did you get that awesome clock widget? Also did you use objectdock to get that awesome taskbar?

Yes i'm using Object Dock for the 3 shortcut bars but thats all. The system tray along with the hidden start menu and funky right click menu, is Emerge Desktop which replaces normal windows shell and seems pretty cool. Little thing in the bottom left which shows the song and cover art is CD Cover Art. Good program to work into a theme

The clock and black transparentness is done in samurize. Since i'm not able to find the link again to where I got it I uploaded it here for any who want it. Just stick this folder in the Configs folder when you install samurize. This also has the black bars on the bottom so you may want to get rid of them since my screen runs at 1920x1200 now. Oh and if that clock is too big, there is another version of the same clock in there that is smaller

EDIT - Ok i'm pretty much done with this now. Made the minimized windows a little smaller and used rainmeter to add a calander and 3 drive monitors. Don't think there is much else I could / should add to it. Oh and my desktop changes every 15 min so thats why the 2 backgrounds are different. Hard to see the clock with this one though

probably doesnt but with a huge res who gives a s***? the reason i wanted to do something wacky with the desktop was because going from 1027 x 768 to 1680 x 1050 was a really big difference.

DM I'm going to do something similar to you, hope you dont mind :D
