The current system is silly anyway - it should be that you get a fixed number of company holidays a year. While some will fall on a recognised public holiday, you will have a few left over for you to use at any time.

Trades all use RDOs like this anyway. If a public holiday falls on a day you'd normally not have off, no problem, it just becomes a 'floating' company holiday.

I get 9 of those each year in the US (which has about 12 or so 'government' holidays in a calendar year)

How about we take the day off 6 months later? We need more public holidays in the 2nd half of the year. Between June and December, there's only the Ekka show holiday..

I always thought it was wrong when they had an ANZAC Day public holiday before/after the day. The day is about remembering the fallen soldiers, not about having a paid piss up.

Yeah paid leave. You can still take unpaid whenever you feel like it. I have never understood the concept of paid leave TBH.

In DE you get 6 weeks paid sick leave and most companies give 30 days paid annual leave (although 18 days is the law).

There is a minimum of two weeks paid leave in full time, which can merge sick and holiday in one.

First company I was at = 15 days per year, that would be sick and holiday in one. I don't know what the rollover plan was, because we were then acquired by...

Company I work at now = three weeks hols, two floating days and five days sick leave. Because I'm classed as long-time, I get a bonus 4th week a year. Floating days and sick days are 'use it or lose it' within a calendar year. Holiday time rolls over with a cap at 180hours or something like that.
