You guys miss the point, don't look at it like..

Look at it more like some aussies having a go and hopefully they do more aussie cars. I would really like to see them pull out the new 310 F6 tonight. Something you wouldn't get to see on TopGear UK.

Also with Topgear Australia having a budget of $1m per episode. It would be hard for them to f*** it up.

I concur, myself and the girly are two of those many.

Just watched 10 mins, it was utterly boring and very car-talky. Meanwhile we watched a Topgear challenges DVD from start to finish two days ago and it was great!

The personalities are really good to watch and it is very easy to get enthusiasm about cars, they use a minority of car-tech talk.

Those Aussies guys, well one was really bogan sounding and the other seemed like a prat. Utterly boring.

Just finished watching it..

Certainly won't be going out of my way to watch it again, unless they get rid of the presenters and get the UK guys in.

Gives a bad name to the UK Topgear guys.

EDIT: O, how about how the prat made some crappy joke and it was kinda silent then the clap sign must of flashed and people sorta did a half arsed clap.

while I have to agree with most of you guys..

I really didnt think it was that bad.... yes it was a blatant ripoff of the UK version but meh. It will be interesting to see the holden vs ford one next week though.

in the end 7/10 imo.

Its not just the personalities, they are good at their jobs ie.they make things entertaining.

Me and the missus watch UK top gear cos its a good watch.

The aussie one, isn't ... maybe it will be once they work out their own formula.

You guys forget also that it took the UK topgear a while to hit on. With thier personalities and whatnot.

Have a look at the early topgear episodes on the tube and you will see what I mean...

Nothing original
Sounded like the presenters were reading a script
Car reviews were too short or sounded like an advertisement
Jokes were lame
The two younger presenters had no charisma

I left to trawl the net when they got to the what were they thinking board

Top gear, well at least the first season or two was as boring as all f*** (tiff Nedal was the problem) and it did take several seasons to get the top gear Mojo happening and several presenters , so in that case i will persist in watching Oz top gear for a while.

I liked it but I was hoping for the holden ford one straight away.

I suppose they want to see if they can build any hype for next weeks ep. Can't wait to see them fanging it around in the 310 F6 Typhoon =D

Also getting air on sand dunes in a rav 4 = awesome

I think they should put this show on the 'what were they thinking board'.

Is the Ford Vs Holden episode shot at 2:00am in a car park? That's where all the real driving is done.

it was OK, nothing awesome...

It'll take some time for the 3 presenters to 'gel'

I also hope they do more aussie cars...

Would love to see an old v8 show, A9X, XU1, VK Brock Director, GTHO's, XA Coupe's and all that, f*** YEAH

I never said it wasn't scripted, and sometimes it is quite obviously scripted or setup. But the hosts and crew have the talent to make the show feel like they are just winging it.

Watched last few minutes and cringed through it all. Dude with the mo was dropping so many cliches that it was just ridiculous and also Holden -vs- Ford next week "at last" ?

I'm pretty sure every car show/magazine/reviewer has done a Holden -vs- Ford comparison over the past 50 years so I doubt Top Gear AU's will be much different.

I didn't mind it. They were definitely trying to be the same three guys as the UK Top gear. It'll only get better I think, but I prefer UK top gear.

Is it still on in Aus? Or are they replacing UK with AU here?

to quote Mrs Hardware 'this just seems like a clone you'd see on youtube'
that summed it up for me.

i actually didn't mind it.

the challenges were a bit lame, but so were the challenges in the early uk top gear. i was really expecting a lot worse.

ps. its way better than 5th gear.

I'm gonna give it 4 or so eps before giving up on it entirely but yeah...

I think it has potential except the mix of presenters doesn't feel right

also ford vs holden now there is an original f***ing idea - I'd be more interested if they found out which one was more resistant to light anti-tank weaponry

I think doing a 'Ford vs Holden' episode is doing the show a disservice as it is far too unoriginal.

It was OK... I was a bit surprised they didn't even take us through the test track layout?? Like, here is a car going around some cones on a runway and it did it in...

agreed.. +1
even the UK version did that.

look forward to 4wd comparisons too, if they do any?
and discussions about V8 supercars etc etc...

should be interesting..

IMO it should be a little more than just the falcon vs commodore comparison, they should also add the aurion, accord and others too into the mix.

Should also be the same for V8 supercars racing they need to add more makes and models.. toyota, honda and nissan all have v8's, it would be great to see them wip up the holdens and fords..

I thought it was pretty decent all considered. Could have been WAY worse.

I think given some time it will come into its own and be a good watch. Even this raw first episode is better than 99.9% of the rest of the s***e on TV.

Well that's just silly. If it was an LCD I could understand.

I missed it on Monday, have to peep it next week to see what all the fuss is about.
