Had my new XBox softmodded and now I want to reinstate it as the media centre, via an ethernet cable, networked to my PC. Xbox is 2005 model, using XBMC (currently installed).
The mod chip I had before allowed you to type in the IP address, subnet mask blah blah and hey presto - networking happened. However with the soft mod I get a screen in XBMC where I have to "Add sources". So I have gone into Video>Add Source>Browse>Add network but I am not sure what to put as server name, shared folder, port, password/user. Do I need to fill these in? I have had a look online for softmod network tutorials but haven’t found anything so far. A couple of guides say to FTP XBox but I never had to do that before. Is this a vital step? Even if you know a good site that has a walkthrough it would help. |

I did this the other night on my housemate's Xbox. I just remember going to "Add Sources", going to browse, and choosing my Windows (SMB) share.

Never mind, I am an idiot!
I hadn't changed the IP Address to "static IP" and once I did that it found the PC straight away. All up and running now! Ahh, good to have you back *hugs Xbox* |
