i just recently bought:

AMD phenom quadcore 9550 cpu
gigabyte GA MA790x ds4 mobo
GTX 260 gpu

question im wanting to know will i still be able to run the GTX on that board or did i blindly make a mistake??

Um, why wouldn't it? its got a 16x pci-e port so plug it in.. Just cause it says it supports ati crossfire doesnt mean its exclusive.
