what's it doing, monaro? Does it turn on? and if so, does it display on the screen? I could probably whip you up another cheapie, just tell me what price you looking at.

hey mr hardware, it just would not turn on at all so i unplugged everything and still nothing, then i did it again and the ram sparked, like it was not sitting in prop. Then the next time u could smell burning plastic. Its on now but not sure if it will last, is getting a little slow.

My girlfriend just uses it for uni work, but something a little faster would be nice, maybe something with vista? Maybe 400 or less, not sure if that is possible. The thing is i need it asap.

For that sort of money and that sort of need, i'd really recommend you buy a new box. Just remember new stuff comes with warranty.

FYI that box i sold you was a umart special about 4 years ago, so it's done well. I'd buy another one, they're good value for money. Especially with warranty.

I bought my gf a new pc from umart for about $425 and its way better than mine!

You can get a good pc cheap these days, even $350 would give her a much better pc than required.

On that particular motherboard it has a graphics, sound and ethernet onboard. You still have the option to add a video card or sound card at a later date if you wish. DVR is the model code Pioneer use for DVD Burners.

woah wait on. i'm just reading out the s*** from the umart website. this is all new stuff, im giving you the info, you do all the legwork buddy. there's nothing in it for me, i'm just helping you out. when i was mentioning doing you a cheap one, im talking from my own stockpile of used parts here, but they'd be on the same level or worse than what you've got. once you mentioned you wanted something decent thats when i said buy new.

yeah from milton.

if u want them to build it its an extra $115 though.

I just built it myself which is a pain in the ass but better than adding 33% to purchase price

You can get laptops for that sort of money... crappy ones. But probably overkill for a word document

116 for a build is ridiculous

MSY is a fair bit cheaper than umart. I know some ppl have a problem with MSY but I've bought 2 rigs from them now, and they've been flawless. They also build for $70

their value boxes i listed above, come built

ive probably bought 15/20 boxes from msy (most of them value machines) and have only a few minor issues, most of which they fixed for me the next day or so, when i took the box back;

i got zero issues recommending msy (especially the morningside store)
