So last weekend a mate and I had a debate whether supporters are fundamental to a clubs success or not. He argument were that supporters aren't really needed by clubs in order to win a premiership... he made a valid point as it's usually the players do it for the club. However, I disagreed and proposed without supporters giving support a team would suffer. It got pretty heated and as a result haven't spoken to each other since last Saturday lol... sounds like a high-school falling out... seriously it's water off a ducks back in my opinion, but at the same time i'm not going to be the one to apologize first.

On top of things he argued that if Melbourne were s*** that they wouldn't have a huge fan base... I went the other way... considering VIC is a predominately AFL & Football orientated state that the die-hard league supporters would get behind their team regardless of whether or not they were losing. Another bad no no apparently according to him.

Anyways i want other peoples opionions on the matter...

Clubs don't really need supporters because they make sweet cash from TV rights, but all those drunks pouring money through your pokie machines sure does help buy a few more top notch players.

you got to understand how ignorant they are down there to rugby league, you can't sit down there on friday night and watch the melbourne storm play let alone any other team.

I remember years ago we were down in the north of victoria on our way to skiing and they had the AFL on in this pub and we changed the channel over to the league should of seen all the death stares coming our way. What ever but cause afl is s***.

I reckon most Storm supporters would be Kiwis, NSW, QLDers living in melb. I reckon you would have to be pretty supportive of the Storm to put up with that s***hole stadium they play at.

I don't mind the idea of a "neutral" venue origin, it just sucks that we lose a game at Suncorp because of it.
